Lots of games left but from what I’ve seen this is easily the worst Kent team of the last 25 years. 5 guys on court but no cohesiveness. No team
Play. They sure don’t look like they care either.
Losing to dregs of the MAC puts us right at the bottom of the heap
Hopefully we find some life shortly. Will be glad to retract the comments

Same here. I hope there is something there that I'm not seeing. But it could be the first losing season since 1997/98.

Another sub-40% shooting night. When was the last time they dropped two MAC home games to teams so far south of .500 this early in the season?

The best thing to do at this point is to enter the transfer portal.

Zero effort. Looks like everyone wants the season to be over already. Empty house and you still can't hear the bench (coaches or players) saying anything. We're having shot clock violations where the clocks running down and there's nothing coming from the bench. And I don't know what's going on with Carry but he looks like his dog just died before every game. Before halftime he stood there and watched as a half court trap came and trapped him. He got bailed out by a bad foul call. We're going to get destroyed on Friday.

CMU getting rocked by EMU by 30 no excuse for losing to the Chips and now an NIU team that hasn't played for a while both at home. Games coming up at UB and EMU not likely to be wins.

I’m guessing we lost. The Men’s Basketball twitter account posted we were down two with two seconds left an hour ago and hasn’t posted anything since.

Our defense was decent. Offense is incredibly soft. 2 shot clock violations, followed by 2 traveling calls. Worst KSU team in 25 years puts us back to Grube erra. I say those teams were better. I'm not looking forward to Friday.

Five games in were shooting 20% from three in conference games and attempting over 23 a game. Around 40% of our shot attempts, in conference are from three... And we're shooting that horrible of a percent...

Yes, the defense on the year, including yesterday's game, has been holding opponents to 40.6%. The problem is the Flashes are only shooting 41.9%, and falling. Two observations (for what it's worth). (1) Typically, when a team isn't giving it their all, it shows up on the DEFENSIVE end. So, I can only conclude that the offensive woes aren't due to a lack of effort. Either too many players just aren't very good offensive players, or they are struggling with how to do what they want to do. And that is a failure of the coaching. (2) A lot of guys are seeing action. If a team is winning, that is a sign of depth. But when a team is sputtering around .500, that is a sign that not enough players are showing any consistency. Or, that the coaching can't make decisions as to the rotation.

Well we can’t beat bad teams at home. Maybe we need to go on the road against good teams.

Our offense just looks clueless once they cross half court. The post-player is basically looking scared inside. He's watching the passes almost as if he's unsure if each pass is going to come to him. Which brings me to ask, why didn't we go inside more. Like I've asked the past 10 years, WHY DON'T WE GO INSIDE MORE??? We had the bonus advantage for about 4 of the last 8 minutes of the half. Even if our post players are not great, let their defense mess up.
5 more years of this crap.

Maybe because so many players today think they are the next Steph Curry? You can't loft up 3-point shot attempts and go inside at the same time. Plus, going inside draws more fouls and Hamilton his hitting 72.2% from the charity stripe.

RE: Kent State vs. NIU
The issue with this team is the roster and that falls on Sendy:
1) we have 4 guards total. Santiago didnt play last night. so we rolled with 3. Sullinger made his first 2 shots both 3's and then missed every other shot on the night. Malique is more of a hybrid guard/forward. he's better going to the rim vs shooting outside. Sincere is highly talented but i dont think he's been out of a game yet in the MAC season. he at times has decent outside shot but his strength is quickness and passing. and with the later he's making great passes to the bigs who then miss shots. Can you imagine what this would look like without sincere.
2) the rest of roster are just guys. all in the 6'5-7'0 range. probably good athletes but not good shooters and not good down low. Hamilton is what he is. 5-6 years into college he is charmin soft and cant finish consistent. Beck is head scratcher to me as at times prior years he showed ability. Akeem shows some potential.
I think Rob's coaching staff is suspect too. they dont appear to offer rob insight during game and there doesnt appear to be much 1 on 1 instruction during game.
So to me this all falls on sendy.....

Well, of course. The roster is the responsibility of the coaching staff, and the staff is the responsibility of the head coach.

With the rampant transfers of today, I think rosters are kind of a crap shoot. I miss the stable rosters of the old days. It seems it might have been easier for coaches to know their teams and what is needed for the next recruiting class. There certainly was more cohesion.

Not our (my) place to knock the coaches here, the landscape of college
sports has dramatically changed. Kent always groomed players over several years. We recruited potential and molded it into MAC quality teams. Those days are over. Too many kids enter the portal at the first
sign of stress.
But…. Much coaching brain power has left Kent and despite our best efforts, budgets and greener pastures have hurt the cause.
Just to name a few, I’ve missed a bunch. Armon Gates , DeAndre Haynes,
Eric Haut, Anthony Wilkins,Jordan Mincy All successful elsewhere , and many more. Sendy plays the hand he’s dealt but he’s missing some Aces .
