Exclamation Question on Off Coordinator opening
The OC position was announced as vacant some days ago but I have heard/seen nothing about a search for a replacement. Following footballscoops they note new OC announcements daily, with no movement on the Memphis position to date.

Is Coach Silverfield considering an internal appointment? The only person the the staff with experience is Brad Salem who was OC for a time at Mich State.

Is there speculation as to who is in the mix for the position?

RE: Question on Off Coordinator opening
Then entire staff including the HC have been in San Antonio at the AFCA convention, flying back today.

That is where a lot of interviews take place for openings.

RE: Question on Off Coordinator opening
Could (should) know this week/early next week. External hire almost certainly.

You will hear rumblings within a week. Salem wasnt very good at Michigan St. Expect an external hire on this one

RE: Question on Off Coordinator opening
I saw parts of two games of Sam Houston State on ESPN+ this year. They scored a bunch of points and ran a fun offense. Their OC might be a good guy to talk to. Even though they are a FCS program they still looked pretty good. Plus he surely must have some recruiting contacts in Texas. Its just a thought, but I liked what I saw from them. I have no idea who the coach is.

He's a HC now for the blue hens of delaware..but spinning off where your head is at. Ryan Carty (former SHSt OC) was a chip kelly disciple--just like another former SHSt OC, Tim Cramsey--who was also a chip kelly disciple and now OC at Marshall. That's someone I could see them looking at.

Brady White is too new for something like this, right?

Ole Miss hired Charlie Weiss, Jr. who is 29 now but has been a OC at FAU and USF since 2018 (when he was 25).

Charlie Weiss Jr has been coaching since 2011 and Brady has never officially been on a coaching staff. I mean sure Silverfield could give it to him but If I was close to getting on the hot seat I dont think thats the route I would take.

I think Brady White would make an excellent offensive quality control analyst.

seems for sure too new. People are quick to say well he knew how to audible with Norvell! well yeah he got behind center and counted hats in the box compared to hats out wide. Im not sure that shows he knows what play to call when. Not saying he will never be able to do it, but I would prefer someone a little more experienced in coaching

Charlie Weiss Jr was on the sidelines of every Notre Dame game when his dad was at ND (sometimes even with a headset) just soaking it all in

I think he'd be fine a step up, as QB coach. Knows the game, dedicated, smart guy. And I'm sure he can figure out the recruiting.

Lane Kiffin experienced coach vs Ryan Silverfield who himself has never been a coordinator

Only internal promotion to OC has to be Brady White. Bold move and might be out of CRS's comfort zone.

White is probably the most qualified person in the country to be an OC of the people with Zero coaching experience -

he will probably be one of the quickest learners and move up very fast and be a great coach IF that is the path he chooses , but he is in no position to be an Offensive coordinator for a D1 team this year
