From the 10 min mark in the first half on was the best basketball we've played all season.

A more accurate statement I could not imagine.

We love clobbering bad teams, but can look very, very average against good teams, especially on offense.

At least that's a step forward. Under the Former Guy, we often were the bad team.

Mike Davis suffered artificial-vanilla-creme bukake from cupcakes like Furman and Tennessee-Martin and then-crapulent conference foes East Carolina and UCF.

Even Gene raged about his teams playing down to the competition, and lost to American-Puerto Rico.

This team reminds me a lot of the teams AK played on. He played with guys like Elbert Rogers, Larry the Dancing Bear, Alan Ogg, Stamp Jackson, Jack Kramer. But it was his first year here that broke the seven-year NCAA string (the only program to do that for its first seven years of eligibility), and AK only went to the tournament once as a Blazer (and lost to UCLA in the first round). One of those years, UAB had the tallest team in the Sun Belt (which was a good, multi-bid league then) and stood dead last in rebounding. After years of overachieving, UAB played beneath its ability.

I saw a team for 20 minutes last night that could be undefeated if it had shown up for every game. The Bartow standard needs to be our floor, not our ceiling.

You're absolutely right. This team has a problem with bringing the intensity game to game and even within the same game. We would be undefeated if we brought the same intensity consistently that we bring in spurts game to game. It's quite frustrating. I wasn't surprised so much that we lost to Rice, conference road game, Rice is better than advertised, long bus ride, yada yada; I was just very disappointed in the lack of intensity and focus. This team has an issue with that. When we play with that 100% intensity we can bring, we can mask our shooting and offensive woes, and look like a top 25 team. When we don't, we can look VERY mediocre.

We need to beat FAU and then prove our worth on the 3 game swing to WKU, La Tech, and Marshall. I'm not convinced we can win 2 out of 3 but would love to be proven wrong.

Was an observation. She made some crappy calls. Don’t think there’s any need to “get over myself”. Thanks for the advice though.
