One is another loss and we can forget about being on that bubble.

The other is we need to start averaging more than 2,894 tickets sold for basketball. (as of today) Current rank 133 so attendance is a nationwide issue. That said we need to start attending games as a fan base and community. Hopefully with the students back we will have more than a baker's dozen. Bartow is loud half full but I am starting to doubt it will get there this year. :-(

The students start tailgating in front of Bartow today and the remaining home games. Hopefully, that will get more of them in Bartow. We'll see...

Put that away! That doesn’t fit the narrative around here.

That’s today and it looks good. Let’s see it in late February. Hey I hope we are not even on the bubble but this has become a one bid league until proven otherwise.

RE: Bracketology
We knew we had no room for error coming out of nonconference play with one decent win and no bad losses. Rice is a bad loss. At-large bid is not in sight as of now. As DD has said, projections are just that. We absolutely cannot have another loss, we’ve done been written off by most besides Lunardi. He’s waiting on our match ups on the next road trip to get a clearer picture on our league.

At large bid dead. Regular season champ still attainable. Go out and play loose. Stop letting Quan shoot. Quit going ISO with Ertel in non-baseline scenarios. Let Jamal and Brown get a combined 8-10 shots from behind the arc. Put Jemison under the basket at all times. Make Quan and Lovan get after it in the slashing game. Look for back door lobs to Leblanc. Instead of Ertel and Walker trying to create their own shots, make em ‘spot up’. Get the ball movement going. Enough of all the dribbling back and forth, 6 feet above the key.

Can someone possibly explain how we can beat team #226 and move up that much?

RE: Bracketology
"The NET rankings are composed of two components: Team Value Index and the team’s NET efficiency. Per the NCAA, the Team Value Index is “the results-oriented component of the NET, ranking more highly those teams that played and beat other good teams, factoring in opponent, location of the game and winner.” The NET Efficiency, on the other hand, is the difference of points scored and allowed per 100 possession — adjusted for the strength of the opponent and the location of the game."

https://medium.com/the-reynolds-media-la...ea5491a30f

I think we're benefiting from the net efficiency part of the equation.

Margin of victory matters. KenPom had it as a 17 point game IIRC, and UAB wins by 28. So FIU moves down and UAB moves up.

On a more positive note - who is going to Dayton if UAB is part of the first-four games?

So basically you get extra points if you clobber the opponent, even if they're bad, and you'd get relatively penalized if you win in a close game against a bad opponent.

I would definitely go if we played in Dayton. If we make it in and we're playing anywhere reasonably close, I'm going.

Yes, FIU was a 17-point underdog last night.

It's gonna take an extremely weak bubble for UAB to get an at large bid if everything falls right for us.

IIRC, I think they actually capped the MoV at 10 points for the calculations, but efficiency is still important. I could be totally wrong, but don't feel like looking it up at the moment

Also, I’d also be shocked if the PAC-12 got more than their top 3 teams in. Oregon could sneak in after their win last night, but they got a lot of work to do.

If we go undefeated and lose in the Championship game we will be first four out until proven otherwise. The margin for error the way this league is viewed (irregardless of what the numbers say) is almost nil. We blew our chances OOC. Yes, C-USA has been deserving of multiple bids several times but they were not getting it. Perception is reality. I hope I'm wrong and we get three bids. LOL.
