A few thoughts for the rest of the year
i saw a blurb during the game that showed us currently as one of the last 4 in.. i expect to win the conference regular season and be a 6-7 seed - best case win the conf and the tourney and be a 4.

We need Nolley to shoot better. for what ever reason, whether he's hurt, doesn't function well off the bench, whatever.. He needs to be on the floor, his experience is important, however, when he is on the floor he likes to put it up, so far this year the results are not good.

I like Lomax, glad he came here, but we seem to function better when he is NOT on the floor, at lease offensively.

The offense appears to be rounding into shape.. we are scoring a lot, against some good competition, and from the look of it we do a lot of things well... turnovers are still an issue, but seem to be trending in the right direction.

Bates still looks like the real deal, superbly talented. He will get stronger, get used to playing against older, bigger players, and continue to improve his decision making. IF we can keep him another year he could be special.

Duren is special, not a huge offensive threat, but the best post play in 20 years. (Wiseman didn't really play).

We NEED Williams on the court, he's the best all around player we have.. not a pro, but the best in the college game. With him playing well we are tough to handle.

Timberlake is going to have to develop a spot up 3 to be more than a Jayden clone. and i like jayden.. we need guys who are steady and don't need the spotlight.

Dandridge... he's big.. and.. well... he's big...

Q reminds me of Brooks from the Grizz.. we love him, every opposing team HATES him.. obnoxious.. maybe a little dirty.. glad he's on our side.

Tyler thrives when he is not the first option in the offense.. i've always liked him, still do. other teams are certainly going to exploit his size and post him up, we saw it 3-4 times yesterday, but the good outweighs the bad.

If Minott stays he will be special as well.. he has a very good feel for the game, likes to mix it up, and has outstanding size/speed. His rebounding and passing are impressive. Currently there's a hitch in his shot that needs to be corrected and he's overmatched defensively a bit (fouls a lot).. but the potential is awesome.

Chandler? don't really need him... redshirt to play with his brother next year, or both transferring?

We can be dangerous... i expect to make the tournament... and win a game or two when we get there.

Minott has only had 14 fouls in his last 10 games. One of those was against Tulsa where he fouled out so in 9 games he had 9 fouls. His defense has vastly improved. He is shooting 60% from 2, 40% from 3 and 65% from the line. I don't see a hitch in his shot. Maybe that's Timberlake you are thinking about.

But I am taking Precious over Duren.

Depends on the fit. Precious was a much better fit on his roster than Duren would have been and I believe vice versa this year with Duren being a much better fit for this roster.

Duren is a talent...

But playing for Penny the more versatile the big is the better he fits into Penny's system. Hence Penny saying yesterday about having to play small because Duren wasn't able to switch properly. That wouldn't happen with Precious.

Playing in a system where post play is valued and is a focus of the offense then Yes Duren would be the better fit.

Minott is better on the offensive glass, and at stickbacks, than I figured he would be. Multiskilled.

i agree that chandler is what he is. i would hope he redshirts the year not in hope of him getting better, but why waste a year? Hope he plays 2 more years as a 15 minute back up for multiple positions. you're right, he will likely be recruited over again. i would hope that the plan was to redshirt Jonathon from the beginning. Chandler could take this year as a medical redshirt and transfer with his brother if he likes.. maybe??

Nice Post...

I agree with Most...

Duren fits a role that this team needs. Precious really needed the ball in his hands to be effective. We needed that player on his roster build. Another ball dominate player on this team would be a disaster.

It is very possible Precious adjusts his game to play more into a role. It is just my opinion that each was a really good fit for the roster they played on.

There's a hitch ... Sort of a twist in his arm or wrist. That's either an off season fix or a let it go and live with it. He's REALLY coming on.
And Tyler has figured out that if he fights through those picks or switches back ... he'll play. Whether his shot is falling or not.

Any word on Timberlake ???

RE: A few thoughts for the rest of the year
How many more games can we drop and still make the tourney?

I'm thinking 3, maybe 4 if at least 1 of the losses is to Houston and we make it to the tournament championship.

Every game from here on out is winnable.

I agree with most.
The Lawsons...To start the year, daddy said their motto was "Less is More". That is, less playing time for Jonathon will be better for him.
If Chandler transferred, he would have to sit. He's not going to be interested in doing that. Daddy also said this before the season started. "Chandler is here for good, he ain't going nowhere."
We will see from the portal whether that was sincere or not.
I don't think there's much benefit in redshirting Chandler. At this point, he is who he is. He will likely get recruited over next year as well. He can have a role on this time. Sub to Deandre/Minott/Malcolm/Duren.

i agree that chandler is what he is. i would hope he redshirts the year not in hope of him getting better, but why waste a year? Hope he plays 2 more years as a 15 minute back up for multiple positions. you're right, he will likely be recruited over again. i would hope that the plan was to redshirt Jonathon from the beginning. Chandler could take this year as a medical redshirt and transfer with his brother if he likes.. maybe??

Then you're saying Keelon was lying?
lol
It's possible.

no, i'm not saying he's lying, but things can change. if someone can get them both as a package deal who knows?

i actually expect them both to stay, for Chandler to log nice minutes for 2 more years, and for Jonathan to have an outstanding career as a 4 year player. i really hope both stay, it's nice to have hometown guys on the roster, and if they leave we might have none in the freshman class next year, and only 2 on the roster. Frankly that would be a shame.

Precious is a better overall athlete than Jalen, but Jalen is a much better basketball player than Precious. He has a much higher basketball IQ than Precious. And he’s about 4 years younger than Precious was.
