Without naming names, we've had veteran coaches who were not as articulate as Josh is as a freshman. He's special, as we have all witnessed.

He reminds me of a young Tiger Woods.

Good comparison.

That is really good stuff. Tyler has a great smile. You could tell those guys had a lot of fun and were very proud of themselves, as they should be. That is what college sports is supposed to be about!

Bates hasn't had fun in awhile because the kid has so much pressure worrying about the NBA and supposedly the Dad leads the plan. He is 17, 18 years old and has to make it for everyone else around him. Let him play college ball and enjoy himself until he is ready, all season he looks like a kid that just wants to be a part of something like this and have fun

Yep. No hurry, IMO. Bates is clearly a future multi-millionaire, but he does more for the team when he tries to do less, I think is how one announcer said it yesterday.
Bates, confident and relaxed, and under control, is just lethal.

“It just felt like, free, just floating in the air up there,” he said. “The crowd went silent, you didn’t hear nothing. All of a sudden, as soon as it goes through . . . ”

Here, Minott tried in vain to approximate the deafening noise.

“The Forum is just crazy man,” he said. “It’s surreal to play here.”

I watched the game with two little kids running around like maniacs so I rewatched it last night after they went to bed.

There were at least two or three times where Bates came down and you could tell his instinct was to take pull up and take a bad shot without any passes and any offensive set. They were shots he would have taken earlier in the year. In all of these occasions he resisted and let them team get into a set which ultimately resulted in points. In a game as close as this one those are the types of bad shots that can cost a team the game but instead he made the smart play which led to a victory. That is growth and maturity which is great to see. He is clearly listening to the staff and it showed last night.

The staff that doesn't know how to coach? #snicker.

I think we can put that silly notion away. I myself have been guilty of piling on the coaching staff out of frustration but will gladly admit I obviously don't know shite from shinola. Hand me a fork and some hot sauce with which to eat this heaping helping of crow.

I saw the same thing, and commented to those sitting around.
Different player yesterday than a few weeks back.
