This 3rd quarter has been abysmal. Horrible basketball defensively and offensively. This is easily one of the worst JMU teams I’ve ever seen

Well, that was a slugfest. And no, it was not "horrible defensively". The girls are actually playing pretty good defense most of the time. Unfortunately, Elon is a very well-coached and very experienced team that has always had our number. I have suspicion that Charlotte Smith is a really good student of film. It also does not help when the refs are on the side of "let them play" to the extent that it includes everything short of hair-pulling (and I'm sure Goodman's braid was a temptation!). That call where the Elon player tripped Kiki from behind and then fell on her should have been an intentional foul, IMNSHO. If nothing else, I will be glad to get away from that blonde ref with the short hair (we call her "the nazi") unless she transfers to the Sun Belt , perish the thought.

Bright spots were the return of Claire and the continuing development of Goodman and Ouderkirk. There was a lot of speed when both Hazell and Tinsley were on the floor.We sure did miss Jaylin though. And it was a W, no matter how ugly.

Nope, it was horrible as I said. Especially that 3rd quarter. We were lucky to escape with a W. Goodman’s development has been a bright spot, I’ll give you that. Biggest takeaway is we have to find a way to take care of the ball.

That was a pretty wild game today. Elon plays very aggressive defense that borders on playing dirty. Playing literally on top of the JMU players flustered the team at times today but I was excited to see them keep their cool and figure out a way to win. This was a good gut check for them. Great to see Claire back and she seemed fine. Hopefully Jaylin will be back soon and they can run their normal offense and defense.

While in the bathroom just before the start of the game they were playing the pregame discussion between Curt and Sean. Sean said that Jailyn should clear health and safety protocols on Tuesday and be good to go. Really could have used her against McGill and Johnson yesterday, I think she is the teams best defensive player and rebounder. Plays tough all game long.

I'll agree there were too many TOs but I still disagree the defense was "terrible". I don't know what you expect them to do against a team like Elon that is borderline dirty (to quote Brian) short of out and out punching some of them, especially when you have referees that don't deign to call that kind of play when it's right in front of their faces.
