Game cancelled tonight
due to Covid in our program. Well it does take a likely loss off our record.

Does cancelled mean the SBC isn’t going to even try to reschedule the game? What is the conference policy on this?

Yes. They said cancelled games would not be rescheduled. I suppose it's possible they could revisit that decision at some point.

Interesting looking at the list of DI games scheduled for today. There are many games not being played. Some are listed as "cancelled" (obviously the Sun Belt games are in that group), some as "postponed", and some as "forfeit". Not sure it is fair to forfeit games due to a pandemic. If it is clear the forfeits were due to not being vaccinated that would be one thing. But clearly a lot of vaccinated, and even boosted, people are getting Omicron. I know a number of them personally.

Some leagues have a policy that if a game is postponed because of Covid but rescheduling it is not possible. It becomes a forfeit.

Honestly, I'm beginning to see the Appeal to forfeiting. If we lose both games because you guys have covid next week, we've suddenly played 3 out of 6 games through no fault of our own.

If fully vaccinated, and taking reasonable precautions, not sure getting Covid during a pandemic is anybody's "fault". I tend to agree that if the cancellations are due to unvaccinated players forfeits are appropriate. Taking "reasonable" precautions is harder to measure and/or quantify.

RE: Game cancelled tonight
It appears clear we had players test positive Saturday morning at ULL. Would they even be eligible to play at ASU Thursday since that would be the 5th day since they tested positive? They certainly wouldn't be eligible to practice until Thursday so they will certainly not be in game shape.

By SBC policy they would be eligible to play Saturday morning but they’d have to test out, if they are vaccinated

I think the question becomes how many were positive prior to Saturday, because they could return Thursday

Without forfeits I think the team canceled on should have the ability to get the home game back. If you play Saturday the game should be in Jonesboro. We shouldn’t be punished because you guys are testing

So are you saying, anyone who tested positive on Saturday could not play until next Saturday? If that is the case, we should know right now if we can play Thursday. If we can't play Thursday, we might want to delay the announcement so the league doesn't have time to implement your suggestion.

If we have player exposed but did not test positive then Sunbelt for COVID says you should be able to play.
The following quarantine protocols are for individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19.
Quarantine begins on the last day of exposure.
Masks should be KN95, surgical/procedure masks, or multi-layer cloth masks.

Individuals who are vaccinated (two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer; one shot of the J&J; or two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer, or one shot of the J&J plus a booster) do not need to quarantine following an exposure but are required to mask for 10 days except when engaging in physical activity (practice, weight lifting, competition). If symptoms occur, individuals are required to quarantine immediately until a negative test confirms symptoms are not attributable to COVID-19.
