I am 100% against booing amateurs, now the question is are college players really still amateurs?

It is likely that Alex Lomax is still an amateur. I know of no big NIL deal.
Bates and Duren are not amateurs.

Yeah that is where the question comes in. I know some players are getting nothing and some are getting paid. Also you can add in, those who are getting paid are not getting paid by the school or by fans buying tickets.

Personally I will continue with never booing a college player.

You get booed by your hometown fans in those cities because the fans suck. Every rational person knows that. They are only good IF you win.

When you have a reputation as a city as being bad fans, why use those examples to try and make a point. There are plenty of cities that fans will boo the refs, the opposing team, but you rarely hear them boo the home team.

I don’t know about good but New York fans are for sure passionate. I’ve never heard anyone refer to Philly fans as “good” lol. They’re batshit crazy.

Philly fans are good.

There, now you’ve heard it.

BS, Philly fans are great. They hold people accountable. Jason Kelce gets it, and he's the goat in Philly.

Bryce Harper also gets it. When he wasn't playing well, they asked him about being booed. He said "I'd boo me too. I have to play better." Bryce did play better and he always hustles. He's also a fan favorite.

Ben Simmons, they boo the F out of him because not only is he not performing, but he's a prima donna and blames everyone else.

Like fans in any other city, yes, we boo. But we boo for lack of effort, not for lack of ability. That’s why we love Kelce, Harper, Utley, etc…effort and desire.

No, we didn’t boo Santa. We threw snow balls at Santa. Get your facts straight.

Recruited super well (Duren & Bates)

Coach hasn't taken signing a talented PG serious (PGs see the favoritism for Alo). Pundits all have said missy find a PG. Instead coach thought he could "get by" w/out one. Positionless ball first, then Bates at PG. Now keys handed to Alo w/maxed ceiling already.

City expects team w/this talent to finally make a name in the big dance. This isn't everybody gets a participation trophy time....

Good shot, right in the center of the bullseye.

Agree.
I think it was fine to boo KJ when he came back with another team, based upon his actions when leaving town.
I don't think it was fine to boo Brady after he slid short of a 1st down.
I've never heard Tigers fans boo a Tigers basketball player.

If u feel u must boo, boo the pros, the refs, a stupid call by a coach

Kids hardly ---they are grown men--old enough to die for our country--but can't drink a beer or play cards in a casino SMH---well maybe Bates is still not 18

Still he is a young men representing our university. I see no valid reason to boo ALo, (or any of our players) cringe maybe but not boo. The kid tries and plays hard, he just hasn't matured as a basketball PG.

He still has represented our university well. Seems counter productive to boo on so many levels. Penny has tried to make him into something he is not, and that is not really on ALo.

I think because basketball skills came naturally to Penny he believes they come naturally to all of his players, whereas most of them need to be developed and taught. Same is applicable to coaching. All the more reason why Penny should rely more on LB and his ability to develop players at all skill levels. What a waste of knowledge sitting right beside Penny.

Yes sir. I hate that Alex hasn't progressed much beyond his freshman season. I have no idea who bears responsibility for that but it doesn't change the outcome. He simply has not developed into anything resembling an elite level D1 PG.

Also, there is no good reason to boo any of these players when they are giving their all every game. I can't remember the last time I saw any of Penny's teams quit with the exception of that 40 point blowout loss we suffered.

As to LB, it appeared last game that he was a whole lot more engaged and Penny and he interacted a lot more than in previous games. The players were listening to him when he'd pull them aside and he was overall more animated. Hopefully that becomes a trend.

That's a ridiculous distinction for me. They are still young men playing hard for YOUR team. I assume you consider the Tigers your team, why else would you come here?

Incorrect. Fans here are the same as fans in any other city. Some are bad. Most are good. One shouldn’t generalize nor make assumptions about that which they know very little.

Have fans here ever booed Santa Claus?

These players are not private citizens, they are public figures due to the fact they make their recruitment a televised side show and wanting to make a public display of their talents for the purposes of career advancement. That opens theM to all sorts of criticism in the public realm. I’ve been hard on ALo, but it’s Penny’s fault for pushing him as our premier PG when he obviously isn’t that caliber of player. Maybe playing Earl will inspire ALo to get better but he really doesn’t have enough time to improve as far as the Tigers go. YMMV!
