Six of whom?
So we have 6 games @Protective…2 OOC and 4 conference (?) games. Who are the 4 if the SBC teams bolt? Does CUSA punt divisions and just go with a single table this year? Very glad we don’t have to take shelter from idiotic CUSA solutions after ‘22.

If they were to let in Liberty a year early to fill some of the empty slots, I am guessing our already scheduled game with them would then count as a conference game. Which would mean we would now be in the market for another out of conference road game. That could be interesting.

Similarly, if New Mexico State were able to come on board, would uab move east?

RE: Six of whom?
The 6 that are going AAC should play each other for sure.
UAB has/had a great home CUSA schedule with USM, UTSA, UNT, Marshall coming to Protective. If Sun Belt teams leave UAB should pick up Charlotte. FAU, Rice, UNT, UTSA are on the schedule currently. Having to pick up 2 games I vote for Charlotte and MTSU.

Both Charlotte and MTSU would have been traveling to Marshall in 2022 so those are the only 2 East Div possibilities.

...perhaps the SBC teams would still have an open date, even picking up a full SBC conference slate... I REALLY would love to frog stomp USM one more time, especially at Protective... 04-rock

RE: Six of whom?
but yeah, if it ends up as an 11-team CUSA for 2022, the divisions should most definitely be:

UAB
UNT
Rice
UTSA
FAU
UNCC
----------
UTEP
LaTech
FIU
WKU
MTSU
(Liberty - if in 2022)

This would make the 'transition' a bit easier in 2023, I guess... although CUSA will most likely go non-divisional for 2023, and MAY even do that in 2022, if it stays at 11. ...as to Liberty, if they are in for '22, and CUSA does the divisions as above, you still need three 'cross-division' games anyway, so Liberty would obviously be one of those for us...

...didn't even bring up the other 'call-ups' into CUSA (NMSU, JSU, SHSU), as they don't directly affect us, at least in the current status (if they DO come in, we may play JSU as a 'cross-rival' - JSU/UAB in Protective would draw a decent crowd, I reckon...)

Do USM,Marshall and ODU not have enough budgeted for just one more year in CUSA?

Budgeted? Probably. But no need to hang around if Sunbelt is ready for them. We would jump to AAC yesterday if the option was there, but AAC has no room until the new B12 schools leave.

The AAC has one spot (UConn’s) if it wanted to fill it.

I would think they want 1 more year of bigger slices of the pie not knowing what their next TV deal is going to be worth.

RE: Six of whom?
...somewhat of a 'bump' but I figured this would be a 'continuation' of the original thread regarding realignment...

C-USA Statement regarding potential early departures from the confrence

“Conference USA acknowledges reports of three of our members prematurely departing. We fully expect everyone to follow our bylaws and honor their contractual obligations through the 2022-23 academic year. All fourteen members will continue to be eligible for conference championships and the postseason opportunities Conference USA provides.”

...a short statement, perhaps to save face? 03-confused The 'SBC 3" are to MOST likely declare in a week or two that they are leaving out this June...

RE: Six of whom?
...and please forgive me if this is 'out of bounds', but I was perusing the SBC board and found this thread, which has an interesting 'item' on it:

UAB might be able to waive Exit Fees from CUSA?

...the first post of the thread, next to last paragraph notes that USM and UAB, as 'founding members' of C-USA, MAY have some 'loopholes' regarding exiting the conference such that fees are reduced... um... ok then...

BTW, UAB is somewhat 'interwoven' throughout the thread, and a few folks bellyaching about how CUSA 'threw us a bone' when we axed football, yet were allowed to stay in the conference until reinstatement... eh, whatever...

again, sorry if this is not within guidelines'... 03-phew

SCREW 'EM!

When we were the doormat no one cared. Now that we are living up to what long term fans always wanted, we got a bone thrown to us. It's not like no one knew WHY our program got axed.

Good for usm. They got what they wanted and still itching and moaning. It's always someone else's fault with them. Good run the sunbelt...or so they think. We'll see when App st, CC, Troy, and USA are clubbing them over the head every year and then it's someone else's fault again.
