#11 NU is finally back on the ice after a nearly month long hiatus, as they host Long Island Univ. at Matthews Arena in a two game series.

The game can be seen on NESN at 7pm.

NU also announced that they’re adding Arizona State to the schedule. NU will host the Sun Devils on Jan. 11 at 7pm.

Here’s Coach Keefe’s preview…

RE: LIU
Mcdonough out tonight. Not sure why. We are getting back most of our injured forwards from the fall semester though which is nice.

LIU are not good. Must win. They are so bad that a win won't do anything for our RPI/PWR but a loss will tank us.

Squeaked it out. 1-0 win, another shutout for Levi. Would like to see the offense break out in tomorrow's rematch.

I fully expected NU to struggle after such a long layoff, plus like you said McDonough was out.

There’s been a lot of chatter on social media about Levi possibly being selected by Canada for the Olympics, now that NHL players aren’t participating. That would be a punch in the gut without him. Quinnipiac transfer goalie Evan Fear would be in net while Levi would by in China.

RE: LIU
Definitely a tough scenario. I highly doubt Canada would play him, since I saw some goalies with NHL experience on the short list. Would hate to lose him in February for him not to even play.

RE: LIU
NU comes away with the series sweep as they beat LIU 6-0. Devon Levi’s second consecutive shutout and his NCAA-leading 8th shutout. The Huskies are now 15-4-1 and the 15 wins are the fastest in program history (in 20 games) The 2018-19 and 1985-86 teams reached 15 wins in 21 games.

Aiden McDonough was back on the ice and scored 2 goals. His 15 goals rank 2nd in the NCAA’s.

Levi’s shutout ties him with Cayden Primeau for the NU record. The 8 shutouts also rank 8th all-time in NCAA history. The all-time record is 12 by Niagara’s Greg Gardner back in 2000.

NU hosts Arizona State Tuesday night.
