Hard to believe it's been 10 yrs since the Father of UAB Athletics passed away. It's also very unfortunate that UAB Basketball has become an afterthought in Birmingham after so much success under G. Bartow and Mike Anderson.

AK is getting us back to where we belong. Slowly but surely.

I think it hurts us that Alabama and Auburn are both so good right now. Makes it harder to grab people's attention or gain the casual bandwagon fan.

I ate at Hamburger Heaven on Monday (Gene introduced me to his favorite burger spot) and drank orange juice in his memory.

bammer and the wargles were good during our Golden Years: Jamal's Dad, Enis the *****, Charles Barkley, Chuck Person (the guy convicted of a felony for paying Auburn players).

We also had an AD who could spell m-a-r-k-e-t-i-n-g.

Our marketing really is trash. I wonder how much $$ is allocated to marketing.

I wasn't in Bham back then but this does seem to be an impact. All of my coworkers talked about watching the 40 Minutes of Hell in high school, but have zero idea that AK has a team just as good on the court right now.

I also think that's a good point about Auburn & Alabama being good and taking away from potential fans.
