58 with ties to Tigers.

At an age where he may be looking for a job where he can coast till retirement.

Could be a great fit for OC.

I don’t think we are interested in an offensive coordinator who is looking to “coast” at anything. We need someone who is quite the opposite - hungry and willing to go all in.

Besides - Randy is very well set already with his retirement package from the NFL.

IE: is already interviewing for a better job before he even steps in the door.

WE HAVE GOT TO GET SOME STABILITY IN COORDINATORS.

Prior to this season, Cincinnati had the same OC and DC for 4 years.

The previous DC was also there for 4 years.

G5 schools can be successful and maintain staff.

If you can get a successful OC who actually wants to be here and is not just looking for stepping stone to another job you hire him.

We don't need any coach on this staff that's looking to coast till retirement

I’m not against hiring Fichtner, just the stupid as hell idea of hiring coordinators that want to coast and not go anywhere else.

We just need someone who is familiar with the Oklahoma St system that we’ve been running for the last 6 years. No need to bring back someone from 20 years ago

Tommy West, and he was good until the triple bypass, and subsequent heart medications.

RE: Randy Fichtner
I like the idea of Randy Fichtner as Offensive Coordinator. For those of you too young to remember, Randy was a heck of a recruiter. He was primarily responsible for DeAngelo Williams being a Tiger. He was also lead recruiter on Darron White and several other West Tennessee players who starred for our Tigers.

We could use his NFL experience to bring in players the same way that Penny uses the NBA experience for recruits. And, he has a very local connection, as his wife, Jennifer, is a Covington High grad.

Most pro coaches like the spring & summer off. College coaches are hustling year round & recruiting is as much a part of the job as coaching. Why would RF want that for "coasting"?

That the main thing with high turnover. You get a recruit in and if the guy who recruits him leaves with in 2 years the recruit is headed to the portal.

Cincinnati built the team they had this year because they kept the same OC and DC for four straight years.

The seniors on that team played under one DC and two OC their entire career.

Our seniors this year will have played under 4 different DC and 3 OC.

Recruits want to see stability in the staff.

Randy was great when he was with the Tigers.

I hear he won't take another college job that requires recruiting.

The OU QB apparently wanted some stability. First his team announced it was changing leagues, then his coach who he came to play for announced he was going to USC. So he announced he's looking around for HIS best situation too. Stability does matter to virtually everyone.

Don't have to read Maslow to understand human nature. But I'd think it's somehow related to safety in his general categories.

Just switched the numbers for the OC and DC in my post.

The fact is the OC has been there 5 years and before this year their DC had been there 4 years and the DC before him was there for 4 years. THAT is what built the team.

I don’t think we are interested in an offensive coordinator who is looking to “coast” at anything. We need someone who is quite the opposite - hungry and willing to go all in.

FOLKS I have no option but to close my account and leave this group after completely and totally being put in my place by a superior.......

AW hell, I couldn't even type that without laughing so hard I fell out of my chair.

Dead Head Ted I have one wish for my remaining years.

That I never find myself like you with my head stuck so far up my own anal region that I am incapable of independent thought.

Keep playing it safe and follow conventional wisdom in order to have people like you.

For myself I will do what I have always done for over 60 years I will speak my mind and to hell what other think.

I do not post for your approval.

Or anyone else's.

What few whose opinion I do cherish certainly do not read this forum.

Before my accident, I used to make a damn good living off of people like you.

The ones who think they are so superior and are smarter than everyone else.

But in reality, they are so stupid they cannot pour water out of a boot if the instructions were on the bottom of the heel.
