Don't Look Up
After the meteor event back home in Pittsburgh today, people started talking about this movie. I did no prior research on it and was excited to see a good disaster movie.

Most disaster movies show the scientists being ignored at first until the evidence of doom is so overwhelming they can't ignore it. This movie was definitely a pro science and anti Trumpism/Elon Musk movie. To the point it made me sick. The only redeeming quality is that it had some decent moments of comedy. The POTUS was such a self indulgent prick that she left her own son behind. The US went as far as hitting Russia with missile strikes to prevent them from laughing probes into space to deflect the comet. The basic premise is the rich will mine anything for wealth, even if that means killing us all. There is some truth to that fact, but they made that point obnoxious and obvious.

They could've achieved that without point without making it an antiTrumpism flick. Day After Tomorrow achieves the objective far better.

RE: Don't Look Up
This was supposed to be a comedy in the same way idiocracy was a comedy. The day after tomorrow was not a comedy.

Don't Look Up
It was a hypocritical and very ironic comedy.

The point was to be anti-trump and anti-conservative. Though at least the show seemed to advance the idea that the media is no longer trustworthy. I guess that’s a bit of common ground that seems to be new.

To me good satire is funny at least 75% of the film. I find is like The Onion hilarious, this missed the mark. It had moments, for sure. They made a solid premise into a horrible movie.

when ya open with j-law as a rebecca de morney wannabe + leo-d as a schizoid prof at msu, not only does the script suck balls, but ya quickly realize they overshot their wad with the casting...

">" key was the best part of the 10 mins. it took to get from start to finish...

it made idiocracy look like an academy award winner....

RE: Don't Look Up
Only made it halfway through. I’m pro-science and voted third-party. I like dark comedies and enjoyed some of the cringe but couldn’t suspend my disbelief through the aborted manned rocket mission. Maybe that is because I follow space exploration closely.

Also thought it was a good idea for a movie. Enjoyed and wanted more of the media’s yawn or dismissal of the science and the public’s addiction to (social) media.
