He seems to be pretty good at halftime adjustments.

Can we get some pressure on the quarterback?

Our secondary looks lost.

It was 28. Utah had a kick off return for a TD.

Lol.

a fresh set of eyes plus a new perspective will do us good. Yes we still want him, IMO.

We had another guy who wanted the job who was looking for long-term position and not looking to use the job as a stepping stone.

Memphis will always be a stepping stone job. Even if we do get into the Big 12

Word is ole miss DC heading to TA&M

Have to wonder if he is successful how long he will remain on the staff before going on to another job.

MacIntyre is the first DC we have had for more than 1 year in a long time. We have a constant turnover in assistants also. It's hard to have any consistency when the staff and philosophy change each year. This is the way it will be for the most part unless we get into a p5 conference and even then it will probably continue, but on a slower rate. Most teams have the same problem. It is what it is.

This year was the first time in 10 years we had both the same OC and DC in back-to-back years.

Thus the concern about stepping stone.

We have recruited for the 3-4 for the past 2 years so we may not be deep enough on the DL to run 4-3.

So we recruit for the 4-3 for two years and then he moves on and the next guy prefers the 3-4 and we're back where we started.

Hard to say we should be running a 4-3 given the vast consensus among coaches is to run some variation of 3 down linemen against spread offenses which all but Navy run in the AAC.

And I know that you are one big a-hole. Are you happy now?

and that's when the host asks you to leave the party...

RE: Matt Barnes new DC?????
Let me get this straight. The same folks who complained the most about our defense are now complaining that the apparent new DC is too young, will be too successful and will leave for a better job? I suppose those folks are saying hire someone who has reached his maximum, won’t get any better and we will have him forever??? And while I’m at it. I have been disappointed and upset with the basketball but things are looking up. considering how desperately awful the last years with Pastner and Tubby were…….and i mean they felt hopeless. Penny has brought back the feeling that we can compete with anyone. That feeling is worth a lot to me.

We had another guy who wanted the job who was looking for long-term position and not looking to use the job as a stepping stone.

Then, why don’t you elaborate?

None of these guys are looking for a long-term position. They are always looking for the next big gig. I say go after the best DC you can get, even if we only have them a couple of seasons.

Fuente and Norvell gave Tiger football its best seasons since the 60's culminating with a trip to the Cotton Bowl. They moved on because that's how it is except for about 7-8 programs.

Getting into the b12 would help some but unless the coach has a long legacy with the school, coaching fb at Memphis - like 95% of schools - will always be a stepping stone job.
