Having Pastner or Tubby as coach today would simply be rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Wed be an average basketball team with Pastner at the helm and wed be complaining about different variables being the issue than we have today.

Agree. He lost all recruiting ability here. He knew it and he jumped ship while he still had some luster and could get another job.

I would say more like a promising 1/4 horse--He took over a DEPLETED roster--and a program with looming SANCTIONS ---and we haven't been back to the trny since he left. I am 100% certain if he had stayed we would have been back to they trny before now

By the way --I still think we get back in this year--and am glad Penny is our coach---he will turn it around

A roster with Kemp , Mack, Sallie and Spoon is NOT depleted. 3 of them actually helped win Ncaa tournament games. And then a 5 star dropped into his lap because his mom got sick. Man you got some revisionist history working. Plus he finished FOURTH in CUSA. Your trolling isn’t funny and it doesn’t make any sense. As soon as Joe and Chris graduated he stopped going to tournaments. He won the ACC last year because Virginia and Duke both opted out. What’s his record his other years at GT? You look plain stupid every day making this argument

RE: Would Pastner be interested?
I’ve got a great idea, let’s give him an insane undeserved contract and re-up it for no reason!

Hiring Pastner wasn’t a great idea. But it was forgivable. What was insane was the second contract he received. Heads should have rolled after that.

If you want to promote the kid in the mailroom to the CEO, ok. Crazy, but ok.

But you don’t give him a better second contract when he’s done nothing and the company is on the downhill slide. That’s ridiculous. Not even Michael J Fox got that.

God bless Georgia Tech.

There’s a reason Cal told Pastner he didn’t have a job in KY when Pastner told him he’d been offered HC. It stroked Cal’s ego knowing it would be a mess but just in case Pastner pulled a rabbit out of his fake ass, he could say “see I develop head coaches.!”

Win win.

People are stupid.

Georgia Tech is now 6-7 on the year and 0-3 in the ACC. Looking like no global championship this season.

Pearl 100% wanted the job when Calipari left, he campaigned for the job but our admin did not even call him or return any feelers that he put out. I have no idea how he feels now but he was willing to leave his established program at Knoxville to take over in 2009.

I suppose Pastner would be a good fit here. Let's ask Penny if his videographer needs an additional assistant.

RE: Would Pastner be interested?
This could work! When Pastner went to GT, the AD was the worst GT AD of my lifetime and possibly all time ... Mike Bobinski. Thankfully, that no talent *** clown is ruining Purdue now instead of GT. So Memphis paid us $1m to take Pastner. Now that he lost the ACC DPOTY and ACC POTY they're effectively dead last in the ACC after finally putting it together in the back half of last season and finally -- for a half a season in 5 years -- they were a good basketball team. Now back to the bottom of the ACC. I'm sure the GTAA could part with Pastner ... let's keep the price fixed to put a nice symmetric bow on this ... $1m to the GTAA from Memphis and he's yours.

Pastner was a coaching fraud at Memphis. I don’t remember a player saying a good word about him… no fond memories, no nothing.
