i think a Saturday week zero game would draw a huge crowd

It has been discussed during the Callaway years. Alabama State and A&M have resisted this adamantly from my understanding. The City of Birmigham has told UAB it’s their week. Atlanta and Auburn have shown interest in hosting the game. It fills multiple venues and tailgating starts on Monday. The city might play at an opposite field but very doubtful. The problem with the Classic is it usually gets the Alabama off week. I have questions some things and been sold in a nice way to deal with it. It’s more than football to the A&M and State fan bases in Birmigham. It’s more important than the Iron Bowl.

Also if the classic ever moves to Protective, playing a Thursday night prior to
to classic would be impossible. Tailgating would conflict, parking would be in conflict (due to all the other activities), hotel rooms would be in short supply for those out of towners as well.

UAB usually requests a road game or open date the weekend of Classic, I presume.

Tougher than usual to type but whatever, I'm genuinely curious. When I used to hang out on Auburn message boards it was pretty well known what the sources were for the connected people (e.g. someone was best friends with the old AD, or it would be a former player that was still plugged in), but here I just can't figure it out.
