KENT STATE Light Blue and Gold ?
Just want to get some perspective, Thoughts on KSU changing colors.
I see logos at MAAC repainted. Dec Diploma cases light blue and Uniforms of our teams seem to be changing.

Anybody else bothered by loss of traditions
HOF plaques disappeared.
( Recipients were told they could receive
them if they paid the shipping).

Carolina/UCLA blue instead of our Blue and Gold…. Thoughts?

Ug.. I was hoping this was just for the TV games.
I guess they can argue that navy is too similar to the other MAC schools. I'd prefer they leave it alone for the sake of tradition.

Michael Stanley was prophetic when he titled one of his albums in the 80's, "You Can't Fight Fashion." This just goes along with the trend throughout sports where, how you look has taken-on more importance. Would be nice if these new uniforms led to more victories, but alas, uniforms are not even skin deep.

I've grown pretty much numb to sports in the 21st century. Advertisements on uniforms, non-stop & in-your-face marketing, over-analysis, group hugs after games, social media, unabashed gambling, and so on.

Also got me wondering how the KSU football team can afford to provide the wide variety of helmet patterns throughout the season. Have to believe this involves a good degree of labor to design, prepare, paint, reassemble each week. Wouldn't this cost & labor be put to better use (e.g. cleaning the bird crap off the seats before the games)?

Anyway, Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Flasher, as always your comments are right on the Money.
I was told sometime ago , our athletes want the variety and changes in Uniforms. The coach that said it even went so far as to say it comes up when recruiting! Talk about change in times. It used to be what will my scholarship pay for.

Bird crap indeed. What a shame. Dix reserved section also needs safety railings on stairs. Hard for us old timers to execute 30+ rows with no railings. Student section has railings.
With all the crap it’s easier to stay home.

Next time in MAAC take a look at condition of seats in upper level , what a joke

RE: KENT STATE Light Blue and Gold ?
I remember, and I imagine many on this forum do also, when the "gold" for Kent State was "old gold". It later changed to a more "yellow gold".

Of course, the logo changed in 2000

https://1000logos.net/kent-state-golden-flashes-logo/

The colors are still listed officially as:
NAVY BLUE
HEX COLOR: #002664;
RGB: (0, 57, 118)
CMYK: (100, 72, 0, 38)

GOLD
HEX COLOR: #EAAB00;
RGB: (239, 171, 0)
CMYK: (7, 35, 100, 0) Interestingly, those codes are for "old gold"

My thoughts exactly. As a UNC fan I love Carolina blue, on the TarHeels! I thought the first time we broke out the baby blues they looked nice, hoped they were a one time deal. Seems not, and the combinations went from great to not so great. Leave it the old dark blue/yellow and retire the UCLA crap.

RE: KENT STATE Light Blue and Gold ?
I had no problem adjusting to the lighter shade of yellow. I don't even remember how long ago that was. I'm not sure whether I like it. As for the blue, I prefer a dark shade such as "navy blue" or the even darker "royal blue", but I can live with a change I suppose.

The traditional colors would be purple and orange. I agree handrails at Dix Stadium and the MAC are badly needed.

I don’t care about the colors. I do care we are down 1 at halftime to a 1-10 team.

Agree, the colors, mascot etc. is something to talk about but doesn't really matter. This game does matter to any fan at least.

They've played in gray uniforms and black uniforms. Why not power blue?

Nothing wrong with wearing special one-time colors. This is different
Diploma covers at Dec Graduation were light blue. KSU logo background
On walls in MAAC center have been repainted light blue. Stores are
selling light blue Hoodies with KSU logo and shirts

What happened to tradition and history?

If OSU changed colors fans would be upset

Agree - I recall not too long ago when everybody starting wearing black unis -even the Cavs - marketing folks knew the color would sell. Where I teach they changed from a college to a university and offered previous grads a new diploma - with new colors and university logo - I was happy when the vast majority of alumni totally rejected this!!! Give me the the Don Nottingham era blue and gold with bolts of lightning on the shoulder pads!!!!

Didn't you hear? Tradition entered the transfer portal.

LOL Good one!

I think our tradition is trying to look exactly like the Chargers so we're keeping with tradition. Maybe we get a price break on jerseys if they can just slap our name on an existing NFL jersey.

The Chargers look was my favorite, as long as the dark blue was used. The powder blue in football just does not express strength and energy. Just watch a UNC football game. Looks soft and they play soft.

OSU did break out the Black helmets and uniforms, fan base was outraged. OSU & Nike shrugged their shoulders. Remember when OSU outlined the stripes on shoulders of unis in black, fan base was outraged. OSU & Nike shrugged shoulders.
I was watching a Texas game earlier this year and they were wearing Black unis with the Burnt orange accents. Fan base outraged. TX and Nike so what , buy more jerseys.
It is all about the $$ and selling more stuff.

This is the Oregon uniform syndrome, Have to have a different uni for every game.

UA and Adidas and Jump Man(MJ) had to follow suit. and yes it is used in recruiting.

Our beloved Baseball team has been wearing the Powder Blues for a number of years and not a peep from anyone. I think the softball team has been wearing them also.

I dont mind an occasional change, but we need to keep the Blue and Gold.
