Did the CA article say there were rumors of him leaving the team?
Or are you saying you heard rumors he was leaving the team?
There had been some rumors floating around the interwebs. The CA article said it was COVID related. I was encouraged that Penny said during the Coach’s Show the other night that they needed to get Duran the ball a whole lot more, so hopefully the rumors were just rumors

Were the rumors mentioned by the CA?

Williams’ family member was the one on the Facebook group pitching a fit about vaccines and floating some wild conspiracy theories out there. She had also talked about lawyering up had the athletic department pushed vaccines
I’m now banned from the FB group, btw— I guess criticism of Penny isn’t allowed.
The thing about Williams family hissy that gets me is the fact that he is 25 years old. WTF does what his mama says have to do with his life? He is a grown man at that point, no? All she should be offering is opinion or advice, but not directing what will happen in his personal matters.

Rasheed is also not in New Orleans. Covid related. I'll bet he is not vaxxed.

I like Williams so I'll offer this. Maybe he has made whatever decision you might be referring to and she is just backing him up? I'd expect a mother to do that.
Yep. And it’s really none of our business

We can't win at Wichita St Saturday without all those guys.
It just never ends.
Sure we can assuming Wichita State has players out as well.

Good teams and coaches win despite adversity. I’m ready to use words like despite instead of because when it comes to Tiger basketball and our coach. No more excuses.

Watch much college sports these days? This is not unusual by any stretch - and certainly not a dumpster fire.
Yes, it is a dumpster fire. Penny's legacy will probably be remembered as having done very little with so much. #Apathy

Pastner ? Is he the guy that ACTUALLY took us to multiple tournaments --after taking over a program with a depleted roster and looming sanctions --won a global championship--and took Georgia Tech to the trny last year ? That guy ?

Pastner consistently underperformed with the good talent he had during his first few years. Eventually, this led to his inability to recruit top talent. I’m thinking this is probably the path Penny is on, as well.

Pastner took over a program that was considered among the nations best. Sure, there were some allegations hanging over it, but the program was packing in fans & was nationally relevant. Pastner killed that.
Penny took over the program Pastner killed & Tubby buried. Penny rebuilt interest. Rebuilt enthusiasm. Rebuilt the cash cow. The only problem is Penny is not a leader… he’s a hero… he’s a hometown legend… he’s the best player/person combo to ever play here; but he’s just not a leader of men. Penny needs to be liked… as did Pastner… which is wonderful for recruiting but terrible for leading.
Penny needs to recognize his place in this community… recognize the love people have for him & this basketball program & simply step away. Hand it over to Larry Brown in the interim & return to being a booster & a fan. He will always be loved for putting the program & the city above himself… which will always be Penny’s legacy.

Not sure what the answer is. But this is embarrassing. We are Memphis. We could field a team every year of players only from the city and with a competent coach be at least top 50 every single year. Penny should be embarrassed, the players should be embarrassed, we should all be embarrassed.
