I’m guessing it has to do with finishing before the end of the semester or something but the northern teams are at such a big disadvantage compared to the teams in the south.
That is exactly why, unfortunately no fix.
Sad, but true. Michigan was runner up in '19 but to find a "northern" champion you have to go back to Ohio State in 1966! The southern and western schools tend to dominate the College World Series.
Big 12 baseball will be very competitive and has its share of collegiate champions. Last season, it was the #2 RPI conference; our American was #5 and the Big 10 was #11.

While Cincinnati is no farther south than Missouri, IU, or U. of Illinois, UC will play more road games in the sunny south than any Big 10 team and may gain some recruiting traction in a higher profile baseball conference.
My hope is, UC's stature in the Big 12 nets more interesting regional rivalry games against non-conference P5 opponents, specifically, IU, PU, UK, UL, and OSU. Based upon the record crowd for Wednesday night's hastily scheduled replacement game with the Buckeyes,
any of those opponents should create more fan interest in Bearcat baseball than even very viable, but smaller "brand" AAC opponents such as ECU and USF.
