Happy holidays!

Sorry Dukester. You made me actually go check the website and I was way more irritated than I should have been. I'm blaming Covid and I'm sticking with that.
A lot of games have been cancelled due to this "crap".
Shows that I need to chill out a bit and enjoy the holidays!
Hope you can accept my apology!

Coach By was ejected late in the first half and was replaced by Dean Keener.

I may be in the minority, but I'm in favor of the team that caused the game cancellation to have to forfeit. Felt we did considerably better than other schools last year in Covid preparation and precautions.

Isn’t that the way it was done in the past? If your team can’t compete at the scheduled time on the scheduled day, for whatever reason, your team forfeits and receives an “L”….the other team receives a “W” (by forfeit) and moves on.

It’s not that complicated.

I think last year the CAA jut cancelled games, not forfeited them.

It’s very complicated in the era of participation trophies for everyone that shows up with a pulse and sucks is a “champion”.
Next we’l invite all 350 teams to the NCAA’s and give them all goodie bags…

*except WMgt, they never make it to the tourney

It's weird, but there are different "results" for the conferences vs the NCAA as a whole. As I now understand it (for the CAA)...

Team A vs Team B game gets postponed. They will "try" to reschedule...but how hard they try probably depends on whether each team actually benefits from the game being played. If both teams had COVID issues, then it will default to a tie if it is not rescheduled. However, if the reason is solely because of Team A, it will default to a forfeit for Team A and a win for Team B if it is not rescheduled. So Team B could have "trouble" finding a good time and drag their feet if they want to get that automatic win.

However, all of that only affects the CAA standings. If the game is not actually played, then it does not count in the NCAA standings at all.

So since we are not allowed to play for the CAA playoffs, that could change our strategies on whether to make up any CAA games. If we are competing for the regular season title (to possibly get us an NIT invite), every win helps - so if we get a CAA win by forfeit, I see no benefit to actually playing most CAA teams and risking a loss. Instead take that CAA win, but since the NCAA doesn't recognize it (so it wouldn't count towards the 31-game maximum), try to schedule an out of conference game to boost our SOS. (Let "power" teams know that we are available on short notice.)

It might behoove JMU to have the 3 walk-on players “quit the team for personal reasons.” That way they can’t be counted as part of the 7 minimum available requiring JMU to play or accept a forfeit loss.

They can always be selected to be walk-ons again next year if circumstances change.

There would be nothing worse than having only 7 available players and they were Holman Smith, Shane Feden, Dylan Hamrick, Stinson, McConnell, Savage, and Terrence Edwards.

Yep, that’s what the CAA did.

But what I’m baffled by is in those situations where one team was ready to play, and the other team could not play, why cancel, or try and reschedule? If one team can’t play and the other team is ready to play, the non-ready team should forfeit!

Getting tagged with a loss by forfeit would also put an end to teams ducking certain opponents, or refusing to play on the road after getting the advantage of hosting a home game, and then begging off on a “rescheduled” game because of COVID.
