I suspect the latter with a parking deck and also a parking deck (or two) north of and across the street from the BJCC(old Salvation Army bldg) and Protective Stadium. Additionally, there is an existing parking deck at the old Carraway Hospital that is to remain after the facility is redone.

Both marching bands are in opposite corners of each other. I wish the Marching Blazers were in the corner of the student section (119) instead of a few sections over (122). That way both sides would be able to hear them better.

Maybe some UAB folks at this game can take some notes and tweak some things for next season.

There's easily double the people as the first UAB game
I'm here with a friend so no, I'm not out of my mind.

So what is it? I'm at the game too and the crowd is nothing like our first game.

That is easily twice as many fans in the stands as we had for our first game. Not even remotely close. Whoever thinks it’s close is out of their mind.

I feel quite confident that no developer will build an unnecessary hotel. No hotel is built on speculation. They will build it if the need exists.

Unless it's the BJCC building it

I'm not going to say you are out of your mind...but you have either expanded the first game's attendance in your memory or you are artificially reducing the crowd you see before you today because of some weird bias. Either way, I don't have to be there to know that the crowd isn't comparable.

But I don't know why we care. Our goal is to grow into the stadium. Period.

Watching from home, it looked like there were many empty seats but now it has filled in nicely. Looks good. Good for Birmingham!

Attendence between this bowl game and our first game just doesn't matter.

I'm at the game. It looks like a hard sellout. No comparison to our first game.

They'll still need a lender(s). They may not need any lenders. Heck, I don't know. Building a hotel without the need is foolish. Maybe they build the deck first with the ability to connect to a future hotel. We'll see.

Are there any shuttles running? Would be nice if UAB did their thing for the crowd... and maybe make a few bones in the process... 05-stirthepot

Yes but from the hotels on HWY 280 and the Galleria

This is a good game!

I got a laugh when, during pre-game, the announcers said "...from the campus of UAB".

The weather has turned out to be fine. Both AU and UH fans I've chatted with are very impressed with the stadium.

IIRC, the current expansion plan that bonds were issued to finance included a new BJCC parking deck as the last thing built, after the stadium and arena were done.

Did it not also include money to re-do the exhibition hall and concert hall?
