RE: UTEP Game thread
UTEP hit at least two 3s at the end of the game to close the gap to 13 points, 75-62. It wasn’t that close.

Lovan’s tomahawk dunks were things of beauty. Torrey Ward was smiling from above.

Ertel plays his heart out, every game.

RE: UTEP Game thread
UTEP went 7-7 from the free throw line. Boum was 5-5. He finished with 20 points.

Late in the game Boum was fouled on a three-point attempt. All three free throws were shot with confidence and all three were swishes. Must be nice.

UAB was 7-12 from the charity stripe.

Jamal Johnson didn’t get a shot off tonight.

Quan was 1-7, 0-3, and 1-2 for 3 points. His 3pt% is sub 15%. His fg %is somehow miraculously above 40% (3-4% lower than last year), but I wish there was a way to see what % he shoots on non-layup/dunk shots. His turnover turnover rate is up ~50% on a per game basis. He remains a poor free throw shooter. He’s got to turn it around somehow or we have to stop letting him shoot so many non-dunk/lay up shots.

Apparently Bob Huggins was ejected once at The Bart with 12+ minutes remaining in the first half.

in one of his pregame interviews before we played, he was asked if he had any particular memories from Bartow arena...he said "yeah, getting thrown out for absolutely nothing"

I was impressed that Rongie Gordon went from a trillion to giving quality minutes. He's still raw but did his job.

Toni Tony Toney can ball.

It's a good thing that Mike Ertel reads Blazertalk.

These are my observations.

I loved that Murry called it before it happened

What did Murry say?

He questioned whether the coach was familiar with that ref. Said you can talk a lot to some refs, but he’s not one of them. If you’re familiar with him, you know he’ll T you up quickly

As Jelly was shooting, Murry was like “he’s still going. He’s going to get another T. Watch it, it’s coming…yup, saw that one coming”

Then he questioned whether UTEP coach had ever had that ref call one of his games

Stuff like this is why I absolutely love having Murry on the call. Whoever convinced him to take this job deserves a raise.

2,795 (highest since A&M)

Felt like a pretty decent crowd. I actually had to kick some kids out of my seats when I got there...been a while since that's happened.

Lovan was holding his back for a while in this game so I hope he's ok. This was the first game all season where he looked like himself. I'm not sure what changed, but it's seemed like he hasn't been able to drive like he used to.

Also, I wish I were as good at heckling as others. I made a joke last game about one of the other players, and Trey just looked at me and shook his head. Seemed like a good time to shut up.
