Police deaths in line of duty hit record in 2021
https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/ma...1-n1544708

“"...In 2021, estimates range from 358 to 477 officers killed in the line of duty,” reports Just The News. “Both numbers are still significantly higher than previous years. Using preliminary data, compared to 2020, firearms-related fatalities are up 31% and traffic-related fatalities are up 30%.”

The increase comes following a wave of law enforcement resignations in the aftermath of the George Floyd riots in the summer of 2020. At the same time, Joe Biden embraced the defund the police movement, and even referred to police as “the enemy.”

Unprovoked attacks, in which an officer is killed despite not having official contact with the offender, “continued to outpace all other circumstances of felonious officer deaths,” according to an FBI report released last month. The Fraternal Order of Police says that “ambush-style attacks” were up 126% at the start of December over the previous year...."

One of my biggest regrets used to be that I didn't follow my old man into either the military or law enforcement. Not anymore. You couldn't pay me enough to risk my life at the hands of lowlife scum. Seriously, I wouldn't take low 6 figures if offered.

Denver just had a bizarre incident last night. Some dude went on an hours long shooting spree, driving around Denver into Lakewood. He killed 5 people and shot a female cop before being put down. She underwent emergency surgery and is believed will survive.

Investigation is in early stages but it appears that he knew most of the people he shot except the cop.

Quote:The 47-year-old man who shot and killed five people and injured two others during an hour-long killing spree across Denver and Lakewood was previously under investigation by law enforcement, police said at a news conference Tuesday.

Police identified the shooter as Lyndon McLeod, 47, and said he knew many of the people he targeted. McLeod had previously been investigated by law enforcement in 2020 and 2021 but that the investigations did not lead to state or federal charges, Denver police Chief Paul Pazen said.

“This individual was on the radar of law enforcement,” Pazen said.

McLeod, who died after being shot by a Lakewood police agent, opened fire in at least six different locations across the two cities before dying in an exchange of gunfire with Lakewood police agents in the busy Belmar shopping district, police said at a news conference Monday evening. Investigations continued Tuesday morning into the cascade of violence, which Pazen called a killing spree.

As for cops, there are good ones and not so good ones. Some police agencies are corrupt, just like many of our other institutions.

You couldn't pay me enough to be LE. When you need them, you have to hope you get the good ones to come.
