Poll: Will Penny be able to overcome his deficiencies and become a great basketball coach for the Tigers?

Penny has been an excellent recruiter, but IMO has not been a successful college basketball coach to date.

Undecided.
It concerns me that we run into many of the same issues so often. As an example, the offensive woes. We have had similar issues throughout and we still tend to practice defense 3/4s of the time. Surely by now he would know that we have to work on offense as well. Maybe less than defense, but still we need more practice.

Yes. I think he has to let his “favorites” run out of eligibility. Then we can see how he grows as a coach not feeling obligated to give them minutes that others should be getting.

Penny has the highest ceiling of anyone we could have gotten as the Memphis coach...

Secondly most other coaches would likely jump ship before finishing the job.

No losing seasons, 20+ wins each season he has coached at Memphis, and he took last year's conference champion and a final four member to the mat with a splintered team. Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles can see his time is coming. Who could Memphis get with more achievements and promises?
