My point is I don’t think ODU will ever have enough money to keep up. Some on here are saying football needs an indoor practice facility. Where are the $$$. Need enlarged weight and training areas. $$$. Need more $ for assistant coaches salaries to keep up with competition. More $$$$ to keep head coach. More $$$$ to add restrooms. More $$$$ to redo end zone. And now $$$$$ to pay players to just to keep up with others.
Open that wallet coach!!! $$$$$$$.
I won’t mention needing money to get a new basketball coach. Don’t see that happening anyway unless we go 7- 23 or whatever it might end up being.

I agree that DG4 was great for us. But there were a LOT of candidates that VT could have gone after. They can either aim to be at the top of the ACC or just aim to stall what ODU is doing with its potential. I think we can see where their head is at these days.
I'm not sure that it means we are in Tech's head as much as the new Tech coach wanted someone he knew from Penn St. Which was the same reason Rahne brought him here.
Dwight Galt was a Bobby Wilder hire. Rahne kept him on.
Noted. But it still makes more sense for Pry to have hired the guy BECAUSE HE WORKED WITH HIM than because ODU is in his head...when he has no history with ODU.

Okay i agree we need to raise more money to afford staff/things to stay competitive but that is only part of the equation. You need AD to hire the right folks and make better decisions with the money. If you look around, there are G5's that are doing more with the money they got either from the student fees or the state support. I know not all schools sponsor the same sports and cost of living changes from place to place but still things that few schools have achieved far more with the money than we did for sure. Look at WKU their budget isn't that big and their donations are small compared to us but they seem to make the right hires to keep the momentum going and do well overall in athletics. I do not know the entire picture of ODU AD to make a comment on where they can do better but one has to wonder where all this money towards athletics is going compared to other schools(I am fairly certain some of its debt servicing) and one can easily guess cost of living and insurance etc are higher in Norfolk VA compared to Bowling Green, KY Jelly :)

Maybe they should have charged $20 for the tailgate. A couple of bake sales and a car wash and we'll be right on track.
