They had a very embarrassing gaffe yesterday during the Medal of Honor ceremony recognizing three people, two posthumously and one person who was still alive. In announcing the award for the recipient who was still alive — Master Sgt. Earl D. Plumlee — the White House military aide made a serious error, saying Plumlee was receiving it “posthumously” as Plumlee stood right there next to Biden, awaiting his award.

“Attention to orders,” read Marine Lt. Col. William Kerrigan, military aide to the president. “The president of the United States of America, authorized by act of Congress March 3, 1863, has posthumously awarded in the name of Congress the Medal of Honor to Staff Sgt. Earl D. Plumlee, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry at the risk of his life and above and beyond the call of duty.”

It wasn’t clear if that was what was written down for the aide to read. It was reflected in the White House account of the remarks.

There may have been confusion because the other two awards for Army Sgt. First Class Alwyn Cashe and Army Sgt. First Class Christopher Celiz were posthumous. Plumlee was a Staff Sgt. at the time he earned the award; he’s now a Master Sgt.

Plumlee was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery in helping to fight off Taliban suicide bombers as a Special Forces soldier in Afghanistan in 2013. Insurgents dressed as Afghan national army soldiers and decked out in suicide vests blew a 60-foot hole in a perimeter wall and stormed the U.S. base. Plumlee responded with five others in two vehicles.

Using his body to shield the driver from enemy fire, he instinctively reacted, exiting the vehicle while simultaneously drawing his pistol and engaging an insurgent to the vehicle’s right. Without cover and with complete disregard for his own safety, he advanced on the superior enemy force engaging multiple insurgents with only his pistol.

Upon reaching cover, he killed two insurgents, one with a well-placed grenade and the other by detonating the insurgent’s suicide vest using precision sniper fire. Again disregarding his own safety, he left cover and advanced alone against the superior enemy force engaging several combatants at close range, including an insurgent whose suicide vest exploded a mere seven meters from his position.

Undeterred and resolute, he joined a small group of American and Polish Soldiers, who moved from cover to counter-attack the infiltrators. As the force advanced, he engaged an insurgent to his front left. The wounded insurgent threw a grenade before detonating his suicide vest. Staff Sergeant Plumlee then swung around and engaged another insurgent who charged the group from the rear. The insurgent detonated his suicide vest, mortally wounding a U.S. Soldier.

Staff Sergeant Plumlee, with complete disregard for his own safety, ran to the wounded Soldier, carried him to safety, and rendered first aid. He then organized three Polish Soldiers for defense, methodically cleared the area, remained in a security posture, and continued to scan for any remaining threats.

Biden said Plumlee’s honor “has been too long in coming” and that’s true. Unfortunately, it had to come from Biden whose withdrawal from Afghanistan was such a debacle, which so betrayed Americans and our allies. Indeed, Americans and our allies are still trapped there.

The Biden team is still flouting the law requiring them to apprise Congress as to the details of what they are doing to get people out and who they did evacuate from the country during the withdrawal. It’s a continuing disrespect to all who served and all the allies who helped us while we were there.

Reminds me when President O said "corpse-man" when he meant to say corpsman. It just shows they (Democrats) don't care about the military - dead or alive!

They make mistakes like this because they don't give a damn about the military. Remember Obama's corpse-men?

Defending the country is just an inconvenience, like providing law and order within the country.

They really just don't give a $h^t about the military.

Biden* was so bored when the 13 dead Marines were flown to Dover Air Base from Afghanistan that he checked his watch while the caskets were being offloaded. I'm sure he was bored having to stand there and wanted one of his chocolate chip ice cream cones but the proper handling of the deceased takes time.

Same thing here with the Medal of Honor ceremony. Too damn incompetent to realize the man is alive and standing right next to him.
