RE: Alec Oglesby in transfer portal
So, the guy who was supposed to be the best shooter on a team that can't shoot is now transferring. Now, in the small sample size we saw not a huge loss, but continues the disturbing trend of not being able to keep players

Somebody was bound to transfer. We have a boat load of guards and everyone can't get PT. I just wasn't impressed with Oglesby and I know the coaches thought he could be a starter. And FYI, as much as I liked Boggs, he began as a starter at USF but is now coming off the bench playing 19 minutes per game, 29% from three and 38.3% overall. He was supposed to be a stellar three point threat as well. This is the time everyone is transferring so they can play part of next season. CofC lost several transfers recently.

It obviously doesn't cure players transferring out. Playing time matters whether a team is good or bad.

I meant when you are winning, it's not as big of a deal as when you are not. And really where i was going with the CoC comment is who care who comes and goes they are winning. When you are not, the light shines brighter on every negative move.

Is this a negative move? Oglesby hasn't worked out. I see this as an opportunity to go after a better player for next year.

Not keeping players is a negative move. The fact that your "best shooter" on a terrible shooting team "didn't work out", is concerning. At this rate, what gives you confidence that who he brings in to take that spot will stay? His percentage of keeping guys that both were here and guys he brought in is about as bad as our shooting %

The tweet from Jake Lieberman that announced his departure said at the end “Oglesby has entered the portal for non-basketball issues.”

So far there are hundreds of players that didn't get picked up in the portal that have also lost their scholarship. Going in the portal can be a good thing, or it could be detrimental.

That move specifically concerns me about the future of the program. Not only for the detriment to our team's play currently, and the rest of the season but also for players who might leave.

In my opinion, it was a dumb and potentially disastrous decision that could really set the program back at a time we can't afford it at all. Siddle has already proven to have difficulty retaining players. Whether that is the fault of the new NCAA transfer portal and rules, Siddle himself having trouble with retainment, or a combination of the two we don't know. However, ill-advised moves like Sims to PG certainly doesn't help that situation the way I see it.

RE: Alec Oglesby in transfer portal
Well if he’s ineffective at PG like last night then you won’t have to worry about it much more ? Thomas seems like the heir apparent in time so his timeline may be sped up. Shy ran some PG last night too. Hope they figure it out moving forward.

I’m a Sims fan so I just want him contributing to the team like he has in the past. And, if that’s back at a 2,3 or 4, that’s fine. If that’s a spark off the bench, that’s fine too. It’s about the team.

Getting back closer to topic, I hope that the guys are happy for the most part and want to stay. It’s a shame it’s not working out for Alec but hopefully he has a bright hoops future.
