Mike Leach ranted about that recently. I agree...there is one more game to be played.
Eddie Lewis is going to have to be our playmaker in the bowl game.
yet if Mr. Leach had gotten another job this offseason, he would have left before said bowl game. So Mr. Leach can kindly shut the **** up.

What is the difference between this and last 3 or 4 games of the regular season?
I'm mocking the slow learner.
By all means inform the slower learner on why this is a mere exhibition game but the last few games we have played were not...
None of them are exhibition games. They all count. They are all important.

A player doesn't owe anyone anything. They dedicated a life to it to make sure they squeeze out every bit they can get out of it. They made their own opportunity. And it's the false mentality the "game" gave them this opportunity. To some extent, I agree that the Fans did because the opportunity doesn't exist without fans caring enough to spend money on it, but it is still trading value for value. They trade their value as a player, and you trade your money for entertainment.
But college athletes, generally, are not making NFL money. Thus, their future livelihood depends on that opportunity. They don't owe their livelihoods to you or the university.
You expect self-sacrifice - for these kids to give up a higher value for a lesser value - to make YOU happy and to make other people happy. That is selfishness.

I don't blame him - it's just a shame that this is what the system has become.
If enough players opt out / the new variant of THE VIRUS flares up will the bowl game get canceled? Its just a meaningless exhibition game, why risk anyone's health?

The school is definitely in the positive when it comes to Austin...So no the school didn't do him a favor...They did what was best for them.
If Austin would have sucked and they needed that spot for a better option they would have done it as well. They do it all the time.
So Austin should be able to do the same.
Again no one cares about the Millionaires doing it (Our D-Coordinator) who are already set for life.
But we are outraged about a kid doing it who essentially doesn't have any wealth.

The number of Bowl games is asinine. 6-6 and 7-5 is not 'bowl worthy'. It ends up costing many of the schools money to participate.
There are so many bowl games that most of them have become meaningless - even to the players.
It used to be an honor and a privilege to participate - it was special to be selected to go, now? Just be average.....

ESPN realized that even the worst bowl games are watching by more people than the higher rated basketball games. Thus, they started to create this filler.

I see an end to the bowl games once the playoffs are expanded to 12 - 16 teams ... they will end up using many of the current bowls as playoff locations rather than on campus games, I firmly believe that ... even though its fun to watch a game in the snow, the playoffs will become too important to risk having a matchup be decided by weather .... So here comes the playoffs to the warm weather and domed sites ...

I mean, they are bowl worthy and .500 has long been the criteria of getting in to a bowl game. They have been several occurrences of below .500 team getting into bowl games.
The expansion of bowl games also coincides with the expansion of teams at the FBS level, expansion of conferences, and more conferences wanting more bowl games.
But also - they're still rewards for student-athletes. Maybe they would mean more if the FBS also had a bigger playoff system where some of the bowls mattered for the bigger prize. But they're fun, give the team more practice time, and they get a chance to represent the university and city to bring home a trophy.

Thinking fourth round.
Yeah, probably more as a punt/kick returner and gadget guy for the right team. You can't coach speed and he's definitely got that. With his speed and route running he's got a chance to be a strong slot receiver. Only bad thing is those slot guys can get murdered going across the middle (maybe not as much as they used to with new rules) and question is can his smaller body hold up. Not sure but seems like a great kid so I'm wishing the best for him.

Yup, the only reason there are so many is because ESPN wants them and gambling concerns aka more eyeballs watching. Nobody cares that there is only 6 people at a condemned soccer stadium in Nassau. The eyes on the TV are the ONLY things that matter. Period.
