North Texas goes today.

UNT loses so CUSA finishes 3-5.

Isn't that still better than the odds implied?

UH, replacing UT in the Big XII, is getting UT calls versus Auburn. On consecutive plays, no call on obvious intentional grounding followed by a no call for offensive holding on the go ahead TD pass. Coogs win 17-13.

Wow! With the game in Birmingham, were the refs 'Bama grads/fans?

UCLA just opted out of the Holiday Bowl hours before its start due to Covid issues. There really needs to be a deadline where schools can't opt out of a game at such a late moment. At least if you are cancelling with a few days or a week before the game, fans can adjust. Making NC State fans travel across the country for no reason is a real disservice.

I wonder about the financial ramifications of the Hawaii cancellation? The Memphis team had already been in Hawaii for a few days and I'm sure there were numerous Memphis fans in Honolulu...speaking from personal experience, the travel to Honolulu at that time of year is very expensive..if you can find available flights.

Texas Tech smokes Mississippi State in the Liberty Bowl, 34-7. SEC now 0-4 in bowl games.

Heck, with that track record, Alabama might actually be motivated to win now against Cincinnati, you know, to defend the Conference honor and all that

That and TexasU's replacing Mensa with Sark were the strangest moves of the off-season to me. Malzahn had more wins against Saban than anybody else, and Harsin was a complete outsider. Both moves suggest overactive alumni particpation.

UH under Holgorsen:

2019 4-8
2020 3-5
2021 12-2

Bloomgren's last 3 seasons:

2019 3-9
2020 2-3
2021 4-8

And, Bloomgren had 2018 (2-11) to get a head start. All players on this year's team who were on a 4-year graduation program were his recruits. Yes, the 2021 season, by anyone's metric, should be the culmination of four years of recruiting and coaching.

4-8 (3-5 in a bad conference) should have been enough evidence for dismissal.

Rice is so pathetic when it comes to accountability in athletics. The AD fires the baseball coach after three bad seasons, but lets the football coach stay after four of them? Karlgaard should have accepted the fact that his hire failed, fired him, and moved on.

Bloomgren couldn't figure out a way to win with 26 seniors. All that growth and development wasted. No they're all gone.

What growth and development?

Trying to force square pegs into round holes is neither growth nor development.

These guys operate on five-year plans, comrade.

Rutgers gets their gift bowl game today in Jacksonville.

Hoping for GA vs. Cincinatti in NC, but just as likely will be ALa vs. Mich.

Cincy certainly deserves to be there, but I fear they will be totally overwhelmed and dominated in the trenches (OL, DL), which will likely make this a very well-sided game. As good as Cincy's secondary is, they will not be able to keep up with Bama's all-american duo at wideouts if Young has all day to pass or run. Hope not, as I'm sick of Alabama every year.

As for Michigan-Georgia, I'm going with Georgia and by much more than the narrow spread. IMO, Michigan is overrated. The only reason they beat Ohio State was because of the blizzard conditions, recognizing that Michigan is primarily a running offense and OSU a passing offense. Similarly, Georgia has by far the best run-stopping defense in the country. Bama beat them through the air, and deep. Michigan doesn't have those weapons.
