MVP so far
Who would you deem the most valuable player at this point in the season?

RE: MVP so far
No one really is the clear cut MVP. I can pick out some things in each player they contribute. If I had to pick one, it would probably be David Sloan. Our offense plays faster when he's out there, and he tends not to settle for a three-point attempt. Since we do not have a player that classifies even remotely as a "big man," we will need to drive and probe and break down a defense to open up good shots.
I really like the roster, so it's really tough to pick just one.

I really thought Vonnie Patterson might be more of a factor this year, but he doesn't seem to be that spark off the bench as in the past.

I don't know where this year will end up for Vonnie, but if his playing time doesn't change, I hope we (as in posters) will temper any criticism of any player looking to transfer when a coaching change occurs. Vonnie is a good player, but is not getting the minutes (at least in the games I've seen) to get in any sort of rhythm. I have no knowledge of what's happening outside of the games, but he was a tremendous contributor. Perhaps something has really happened with him, but it's just as likely he wasn't somebody that the new regime brought and isn't as valued. Please do not take this as a criticism of the current coaching staff; sometimes a particular player and coaching staff just are not a good fit.
I was hoping to stay positive with this thread, so I apologize for the negative message.
Please, somebody, give us your MVP thusfar and turn this thread more positive.

Still plenty of time left for Vonnie to turn right the ship and become a 6th man type of player off the bench. During the coach's show yesterday, coach said vonnie has been shooting much better in practice than what his game tape has shown

Patterson will be hard-pressed to be that "6th man" with wunderkid Yasser playing like he is. But Patterson can play the 4 on D better than Yasser - at least 'on paper'. But "6th man" connotes instant offense, or something akin. Patterson will certainly get more PT with Silas gone. Don't skip ahead just yet to chapter 17; we'll likely still have injuries, etc., to deal with, too.

I had hoped Vonnie might become this year's Tisdale, whom I consider one of the most valuable role players the Bucs had in some time, but Vonnie's contributions may only be tempered up till now. Your MVP certainly doesn't have to be a stat leader, rather a player who does those things which help elevate the team. However, on a personal note, why is it when a particular player wears his hair a distinct style at ETSU, then decides to change it up their senior year, it confuses me to no end? It's like Charlie Weber deciding to dye his hair blonde or Tray Boyd deciding to sport in an afro. Back to the topic at hand, I would have to agree that Sloan is probably the ''man'' thus far, but Ty Brewer is quietly doing the intangibles that often go unnoticed.

Patterson and Yasser both play the same role (in my eyes) off the bench. Yasser has been playing very well so he is getting more minutes
at Patterson's expense.
Same as Seymour and Charles. Seymour has been doing better and getting more of the playing time.
Not saying Patterson and Charles roles can't or won't expand, probably will with Adheike leaving.

I do like Ty. He makes some good offensive plays. I think he'll end up getting the defensive assignment on the opposing big man throughout the season, so he'll end up doing much of the dirty work near the basket.
