Nope...5-5 in year 2 and the sky is falling lol. Nobody here has said anything about an undefeated conference season...But I've heard a ton of negativity on the opposite end of that spectrum.
Well. When there’s a lot of losing happening AND very questionable coaching decisions, some criticism is fair and comes with the territory. If we keep winning, that likely decreases. That’s how these things work. Welcome to a message board.

I’ll be the first to give credit when it’s due. As 08 mentioned we are 3-5. And definitely happy we escaped with a W today however we play like that against a decent team we are not leaving with a W. Gray, you all on the Sims at PG experience too?

Good win against an average team who would be bottom of the CAA.
1. GRAYHAWK is correct Tubby Smith is a legendary coach but is in the downward path of his career. But you have to respect what he has done historically.
2. I was willing to give Siddle the benefit of the doubt to see how Sims at PG goes. After 3 or 4 games it is not working. Though I feel Siddle will continue Sims starting at PG after beating HPU.
2. No way we should have blown a 14pt lead. That’s a credit to Tubby and hopefully a learning experience on coaching for Siddle.
3. We didn’t quit in OT and controlled OT thanks to Phillips and Sims winning basket.
4. HPU is an absolutely beautiful school thanks to Nido Qubein and his tremendous fundraising and business background. The new arena has a conference center and hotel apart of it and architecturally is breathtaking.
5. Trending in the right direction, but if we lay an egg against Campbell then it will be mightily concerning heading into CAA.
1. Tubby is a good coach. Legendary? No. He coached at Kentucky and is now at High Point. I like Tubby, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t agree that he’s “legendary” status.
2 (a - Bc I don’t think you meant to have two of them). I agree. Sims at PG is a catastrophe but I’m sure with this win tonight he feels vindicated in his decision, which is still clearly wrong. Especially given the fact Phillips won us that game in OT.
2 (b). Again, agree. Shouldn’t have happened, credit to HPU, and hopefully a learning point for Siddle. Not playing his PGs at PG when we were having trouble not turning the ball over and getting players into good sets and good looks was painfully obvious and darn near gave us a loss today.
3. Correct. Sims game winning bucket was huge, but I was glad he was only in the game for 26 seconds of the OT period.
4. Sounds amazing. The arena looked really good on camera too. Sounds like that school has smart people making decisions.
5. Good to get a win, but I’m not seeing us trend in the right direction because it still doesn’t look like there’s any sort of plan on offense. 17 turnovers is not trending in the right direction either. Nine times out of ten, that is a loss. Let’s be honest with ourselves. That HPU team isn’t very good, and we struggled to beat them. Fornes coming off the bench for 15 total minutes and taking more shots than all of our starters, and still not showing an ability to make them… still a giant concern.
Silver lining is that our defense helped, but HPU seemed like a small team overall and a good matchup for us. I think when it comes to CAA play we are going to be whistled for a ton of fouls, and teams will happily let us jack up shots. They’re probably going to stuff the paint and force us to shoot. So, I’m not excited for conference play.
