Swiss no more
The whole slide controversy chaps my derriere. Hey Dave Clawson, you didn't lose the ACC Championship because of the fake slide. You lost because Sam Hartman threw as many completions to Pitt defenders as he did to Taylor Morin. Eric Hallett was the 4th leading receiver and scored 1 of 3 TDs Sam threw. Of course Hallett plays for Pitt.
Allow me to introduce the Official Wake Forest Crying Towel:

Not bush league if it was legal at the time, which it was.
Clawson is a great coach but man is he a whiner. Not just now but in general.

Are we talking about Clawson or Coach K?

In this thread, we're talking about Clawson.
Who'd give K a run for his money for the "whiniest b!tch in the ACC".

So taking advantage of a situation where the other players pull up in respect to a rule that was designed to save his a$$ is not bush league.
I guess you would be OK with a Wake guy grabbing him and instead of trying to tackle him holding him up so another guy can take his head off, huh?
I mean, there's no rule that says you HAVE TO tackle the guy, right?

So I guess that's why they moved so fast to make it illegal.

How did you feel about The Unfair Catch?
Abusing rules designed for your own safety is always Busch league.

RE: Swiss no more
In Clawson’s defense, Wake did more this year with likely the fewest resources of any ACC school. Excellent coaching and scheme led to a pretty memorable season for Wake. Being in the conference championship game in a league with a number of historical football powerhouses is a significant accomplishment. That said, Clawson can’t really complain about the non-slide. It was a legal play, even if somewhat unsportsmanlike.

Very true. Its not like that play was the difference in the game. Wake lost convincingly and didnt score in the second half at all.

Spiking the ball is a player safety rule? And here all this time I thought it was just to stop the clock.

Instead of 45-21 Pitt, I guess it could've been 38-21 Pitt? Of course, even if the refs had blown the play dead at the point of the "fake" [aborted?] slide, Pitt still might've scored on that drive - thus leaving less time on the clock for Wake (maybe they only score 14 instead of 21?)

We only beat them by 3 scores in this scenario. Hence my irritation at Clawson. It wasn't the deciding play or anything. Pitt's defense won them this game. Harmann got tired of being hit and started rushing his throws. Which is exactly how the Narduzzi defense works.
