Just finished the 4th and it’s 24-3, Chase is 4-5 with 8RBIs 3Runs 2SBs and needs a 3B for the cycle.

Is there a slaughter rule in baseball?

Cancelled Flo after the last basketball game but am enjoying watching the diamond dukes. Don’t think it’s enough for me to resign but having fun watching the team win. Even if it’s against under matched opponents.

I don't think the NCAA has a mercy rule but I believe Conferences can have them. I am not sure about the CAA. Since this is not a Conference game I am guessing there is not a mercy rule unless there was an agreement before the game by the teams involved.

Dukes win 28-4. Ike by my quick count is now. 10-3 against his former club. Most games were high scoring and rather close but this is certainly an outlier. VMI was picked to finish in the bottom half of the SOCON this year. So far the proof, we can beat up bad teams like Mason, FDU, VMI.

The real test will be in conference if we can beat UNCW, Northeastern, and Elon, on top of our remaining OOC against UT, VT, and UMD. This team has some real talent in both the rotation and lineup (most years it’s one or the other), which leaves me optimistic. However, every year Ike has some big win: smashing reigning CWS champs Coastal, beating Tennessee 21-2, winning a series against Fullerton but then only amassing 25-30 wins.

Bats are quiet today, which fits the usual pattern of this team under Ikenberry. Score a ton of runs, then struggle to plate anything 2 days later.

DeLauter had 11 straight balls then strikes one for a homer to put the Dukes up 3-2. Top of the 7th.

That ball was absolutely smoked into the parking lot. The scouts in attendance got their show for sure.

Tough to tell from the camera, but I'd guess that was a 425+ HR

Bats definitely woke up

Bats have hats...they've woken up big time in the 7th.

If we could swipe 1 of 2 at UT next week it would make for a solid start. Not expecting it, but it’s why they play the games.

Odd to see Dabney walked 4 times and also walked twice each of the previous two games. With Chase batting behind him, I’m not sure why would want to put runners on for him, but if they pitch around Chase our 3 hitter will get plenty of good opportunities.

Starter had 5 strong innings with only 4 hits and 1 er. Rest of the way we only gave up 3 hits. I know we got swept at FSU, but I was impressed overall with our pitching, especially game 1 starter.

9 runs and 10 walks for 19 baserunners....i would call that pretty darn good job keeping the bases full of Dukes on the afternoon.

To go along with another good outing for the pitchers (2 run, 7 hits, 1 walk).

So the real question does 9 runs adequately quench your thirst for a ton of runs.

Also let's not forget the other teams recruit pitchers as well....not gonna put up big offensive numbers everyday in baseball.
