Speaking of history of long time members, wasn’t it a Little Rock coach that got into fights against fans? He charged South Alabama fans in the stands behind their bench and he did it at least one other school too. I was looking it up to see who it was and thought it might be Steve Shields, but I thought the offending coach was bald for some reason. Maybe it was Shields though, because while looking it up I found where he got into a fight as an assistant coach a few years ago so maybe that is him.

Don't recall if it was Coach Shields or not. He was certainly a fierce competitor. But, off the court, he was one of the most genuinely nice guys you'll ever meet.

Yeah. That’s him. I don’t know why I thought he was bald. He charged the stands to go after fans at USA too. I think it was even students in our case. Maybe another Jag fan can elaborate.

I have had the chance to meet and semi drink with him after his coaching days (dude can throw them back!) and he’s actually a pretty cool guy to shoot the breeze with (but when he was in coach mode he could get fired up; I remember there were several times I thought he and former Astate coach John Brady was going to throw some fist-a-cuffs)

LeGrand still goes to UTA basketball games. I see him on average 1-2 a year. Always was and still is a class act.

I think he was the best dressed coach in the Southland. The guy was never mussed.

It also shows Texas Hall, UTA’s gym. You don’t see the auditorium side much, but if you go to the :54 second mark, you can see the drop from the stage and the fear it put in players. Quirky gym, but one heck of a home court advantage.

I watched this video and got depressed seeing & remembering how many people used to show up to watch Sun Belt basketball games. In the late 90’s we were regularly getting 6,000 people in the dome for conference games. Big games would get up to 8-10,000. What the hell happened?
