This wouldn't be topic if Brady White had opted for another season, or "IF, IF" Grant Gunnell hadn't gotten injured and his little bit of experience had proven to have meant a lot.

I saw quite a few passes missed. I saw quite a few "locked onto a receiver". I saw quite a few forced passes. I'm not knocking Henigan, he was phenomenal, for a true freshman, but that true freshman-ism showed.

I thought the narrative going into this was that we had a great recruiting class. The true FR corner from Memphis turned out to win a starting spot, Greg Rubin. The true FR WR from Alabama played really well, Roc Taylor. The RB from Little Rock started out gang-busters, but fumbled like a freshman does, Brandon (drawing a blank). We had at least 2 JC signees on the D-line and I think LB that played really well. I mean, every year we complain about speed on the D, and it might be true a lot of the time. Obviously speed at DB has been an issue in the past. Not being experienced and reacting instantly can certainly make the D seem slow. The Houston game certainly was frustrating. I remember one time that a Houston ball carrier did not fall forward when he was tackled. Are we slow, and small, and weak, all across the D? I can't hardly think so.

And losing 48 players for at least a game didn't have anything to do with our struggles this season either.
Doesn't count the players that went down for a series or two.

Yeah, his recruiting is so bad that we played 28 true/redshirt freshman. We were still able to redshirt some of our better recruits.

Yeah--I bet we were the only team in the nation that had injury's ---the teams that beat us must be thanking their lucky stars that they were all injury free when they played us

Modified and still completely intellectually vacant. If you can show me ANY team that had 48 players miss at least a game (if not more) then I will eat my words and never bring it up again.

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago that compared the "missing 48" back to our banner year of 2019. That year we had the same 45+ players from the opening 2-deep miss at least 1 game.
Don't fall for the "yeah, but we were hurt". It's a red herring.

No, it isn't. If Brady White had gone down, we don't even have a winning season. You do realize that we won multiple games by one score in 2019. The difference in 2019 and 2021 is one drive in five games. In 2019 we won them all, in 2021, we lost 4.

I will have to look at the 2019 season, because I really doubt that 45 number.

Gunnell was the projected starter and didn't play a single snap. IF Ferguson or White get hurt, Adair, Moore, McBride or Davis would have been our quarterback.

End of story.

No, the end of story is that NONE of those backups would've won half the games that Brady did.

QB wasn't the problem this year.
You're conflating excuses.
The "frosh qb" was the excuse early in the year to lower expectations.
Before we all saw that the frosh qb was actually a strength.
THAT is when we started hearing the "missing 48" excuse.

Look it up.
I researched it and summarized it in a thread.
Stammers took it another step (I don't think he initially believed me) and validated it with details in the thread.

Sure...IF one of those injuries had been Brady, we would have been sunk. This year we lost Grant and didn't miss a beat. But you can't use Grant as an excuse for the 6 wins, given the play of Seth. So it's what Joey calls, a moo point.
