and let me know when Coastal beats this many Big Ten teams in that same span of time
-Nebraska
-Iowa
-Northwestern,
-Purdue 2X
-Minnesota

We beat a Zack Wilson lead BYU too and are 1-0 against Alabama.

Congrats on your 3 TD loss in the Orange Bowl a decade ago. Let us know when you host ESPN College Gameday and beat the #8 team in the country.

Didn't y'all get your brown pushed in by an CFP unranked Liberty last year in a non NY6 bowl?

Seems good years can come to an end quickly. To throw stones is dumb.

We lost by 3 in OT to a 10-1 Liberty team. If that is somehow comparable to what you do to your sister, then yeah, I guess losing by 3 in OT to a 1 loss team is getting “your brown pushed in”.

I remember Dave Doeren’s last team at NIU, they were a lot of fun to watch.

As a G5 champ, this might be the best bowl opponent any of us were matched up with. I'm guessing there are a fair number of Coastal fans who recognize this. I hope the team comes out prepared.

So you think beating a 7-6 BYU team with a freshman Zach Wilson is comparable to beating a #8 ranked 11-1 BYU team with a heisman candidate Zach Wilson. Ok.

RE: Coastal Carolina VS NIU In Cure Bowl
NIU played a stellar game yesterday. They're in the winning mode. NIU has 4 sacks and 10 tackles for loss in the MACCG. A game they were picked to lose. If CCU's O-line folds like they did a few times this season their QB is gonna hate life.

I hope, for historical SBC-sake, that they beat the MAC champ. If they don't they're going to have to face the fact that they're the first SBC team to lose to the MAC champ in a bowl since realignment.

I mean we can start our own thread. Make it a poll. Will CCU be the first to drop a bowl game against the MAC Champ? Yes/No -

Funny how similar that is to, say...the C-USA East runner-up playing the SBC champion.

Is the SBC favored in every bowl? I know our 4th place team is two td favorites over Mac champ.

Did the MAC champ win 12 games and ranked in the CFP? No? Not really the same.

NIU won the very contested MAC and ends up playing a team that was ranked most of the season and won 10 games. They have their prize.

RE: Coastal Carolina VS NIU In Cure Bowl
Losing to Florida State who was the preseason no.1 to 3 team in the country in Florida at the Orange Bowl is nothing for NIU to be ashamed of. Coastal Carolina may very well be better and certainly has had a better season this year than NIU. My point is as a program NIU over the last decade has been a better program than Coastal Carolina. NIU had a Heisman finalist so as a program we’ve done pretty well for a little guy.

The “we’ve been a better overall team for the decade” is a non-starter considering we’re only in our 5th season in the FBS and 19th season overall. FBS vs FCS isn’t really comparable, but if we really want to compare…Coastal has a 65% all time winning pct and 8 conference titles in 19 seasons. NIU has a 54% all time winning pct and 13 conference championships in 122 seasons. Our key accomplishment is a win over the #8 nationally ranked team, your key accomplishment is a 3 TD loss to a well known team in a bowl game.

As for the “we lost to Florida State in Florida”…. Florida’s a big state. FSU is at the top and the Orange Bowl in at the bottom. Ain’t no FSU fans fans in South Beach so no, they didn’t beat you because of some home field advantage.

Not even close. Last years BYU squad was far better.

But NIU has a respectable recent history of success. As well, Coastal Carolina has had a very nice two year run and this should be a fun game.

That Florida State team had 11 players get drafted into the NFL with quite a few 1st and 2nd rd picks. Then the following year they had another seven players drafted. They were a pretty good team.

I wouldn't call a loss our key accomplishment. NIU has many accomplishments from Heisman finalists, to many P5 wins, wins over ranked teams, etc.
