RE: Women @ UNC Sunday 2:00
My concern with Coach O is based on his own words. He said that he thought this would be a great offensive team and scoring points shouldn't be the problem.
Well, this is one of the worst offensive teams we've ever had. And they are not improving. That's incredibly concerning. If you shoot 1-25 at the threes, something has to change.
I'm not saying Coach O needs to be fired yet. But I do want to see some improvement and quickly. If not, I fear this may be his last season.

I was happy for Hazell that she had a good game in front of her local friends and family. That said, I could see wholesale turnover if things across the board don't noticeably improve.

I am just mystified as to why the team is shooting so poorly, never would have expected that going into the season. Hopefully Peyton will be back soon and things will improve.

Been trending this way for years. Some of us have the receipts…the time is now to make a move. Start sunbelt play next year fresh. Jackie Smith Carson gives us more of a footprint down south. Just saying. And let her bring some of her staff, including former JMU Duke Pierre Curtis.

We are actively watching this program sink to its lowest in over 15 years. That is not on par with the rise of our other programs. Love Sean, but lets call it what it is.

I do not expect to beat every P5 team we play. I 100% expect to compete and not get 30 pieced in the 1st half. And if you have followed JMUWBB the pst 15 years, you should feel the same. Might have to post P5 Results/scenarios from 2005-on to get you on board, O to P.

You may be the one who doesn't get it. I pointed out two very specific issues. You just downed the entire program without pointing out anything specific. If you can't point to anything specific, maybe it's you who doesn't get it.

And living in the past doesn't help. Take a look at specific things. Guard coaching (sucks). Post coaching (pretty decent, on the whole, thanks to Coach Ian). What is Coach K's role? Where is on-court communication? Things like that. Watch that, don't just dump on Coach O or the team and say "Well, it was different back in Coach Moorman's day." WBB was different back in 1988 too.

Coach O runs the program and it is ultimately on him if has a coach who can’t do their job. With the new arena the program should be as ending not going backwards. The locker room area in the new arena has a whole wall dedicated to the the women who played in the WNBA and other high level pro leagues which should be upping the level of players we get.

Yes WBB is different than back in the 80s but we are not talking about the 80’s we are talking about 2 years ago when we should have beaten UMD and other recent years where we were very competitive against all levels of teams.

Certain people here have been talking about the 80s "glory days" as if that was the be-all and end-all. I was pointing out that things are very different now and they refuse to accept that, just continue to hark back to days gone buy and "woulda coulda shoulda". Not that way any more. They also cannot point out any specific problems or solutions, just continue to ridicule other posters and pile on the coach and the team. Sad.

The JMU WBB team has been nationally significant much more recently than “the 80’s”.

At least for the 7 years prior to Sean taking over we were a top 40 program. It's very easy to remember that. And that was with playing in the Convo, which was not as easy to win and recruit with.

People have talked about the issues with too much one on one, poor 3 point shooting, etc. Just because you refuse to acknowledge reality doesn't make it not true. The issues that we are seeing have been since game one and have not improved. Hopefully they will as we move into conference play, but the if the past is any measure I think we will continue to struggle. Stating that doesn't mean I want it to happen, but the reality is we have really struggled with our offensive movement and our shooting all year.

Today on the Oneils pressor Sean said he charted the 3s we took vs UNC. Can’t remember if it was 20 or 25 we took, but he said around 13 were bad, contested shots. That’s alarming. IMO, shot selection is absolutely coached. We went 1-6 on what he would classify as “good shots” from the perimeter

I listened to his presser too. He also said around 5 were shots taken at the end of the shot clock and considers those bad shots as well. The 13 he was referring to (or whatever number he stated) didn't even include those shots.
Alarming is certainly a good word.
