Hmmm.
Yikes. I missed that live for sure. Absolutely uncalled for and worthy of an ejection.
No condoning or excusing that. It’s dangerous and uncalled for.
Obviously, the only possible excuse is that the UL player didn't see the fair catch signal. Only he can answer that, but I cannot see any player making a hit like that knowing that a fair-catch had been made. The player was rightly flagged and ejected. I'm personally embarrassed by the sideline's reaction considering that it was pretty obviously a penalty.
Even with that one play aside, the game was "chippy" to say the least. Trahan got kicked on the ground after his INT by an OL so Marshall's hands are not exactly clean. The Marshall sideline celebration while a UL RB was down on the field was not a good look either.
I'll edit this with a video link if I can find the kick. It won't get the attention that the flagrant hit got, but I thought it was intentional when I saw it. It didn't seem to hurt Trahan, but it looked like it could have.
I'm glad no players were seriously hurt in any of these plays and I hope this is the start of a nice rivalry - and that our teams can keep it cleaner next time.
#55 almost murdered Errol Rogers Jr. on that jet sweep. Legal play but just a VERY physical game.

Agree on 99% of this, but wanted to point out there is a difference in celebrating a legal hit where a player simply and obviously gets the wind knocked out of him. There’s no way to try to equate those two situations. Defenders know when they hurt their opponent (unwillingly or not), and when they just got the wind knocked out of him. The UL receiver hadn’t even got his feet really beneath him to run when he got hit totally unexpectedly. He couldn’t brace his body for the impact… glad he was ok as it was a rough one.
Here’s to new rivalries and games with big stakes moving forward. I think we’re going to have a lot of fun times and games in this league.

CUSA fans keep saying we got the dregs(they may be talking about the AAC more than us). Still of our four three of them played post season and the fourth beat tech without a true QB. Which to me was one the best games of the year. So in several ways the SBC won realignment. I hope we can still say that 5 years from now.

6 of 22 starters are out! Good news is the damage is spread around. If we beat Marshall there will be no excuses from The Herd.
This is pathetic, ULL. First impression is you're a second rate program just like your neighbors at LaTech who can't keep people eligible and lose by 5 TD's whenever we play them...
This didn't age well . . .
