If you think the current situation is the same as 15 years ago, then I don't know what to tell you.
let me lay it out slowly for you:
We play in an NBA arena, have a staff full of NBA guys, try to run an NBA system with highly guys who desire to play in the NBA. Problem is, we are a college program and it’s square peg, round hole.
This is almost verbatim what was said about Calipari before he started his great run here
Oh. I got it. You think that Cal and Penny are the same/similar and will have same/similar results.
I tried to lay it out for you simply I guess that was too complicated for you.
Anyone that thinks our program cannot succeed because we play in an NBA arena that we do not own and advertise ourselves as a path to the NBA is a moron it is the same situation we were in before and it turned out pretty well.

It's not a matter of "cannot" succeed. Sure, we "can" succeed.
The question is whether we can succeed with the current leadership. Under Cal we did. Under someone like Pitino we likely can. Under a really nice guy, great former player, and all-around good Memphian named Anfernee Hardaway, it sure doesn't look like it. We both understand each others points, but you are preferring to be obtuse.
That said, I will end our back and forth by saying that we'll just agree to disagree. Bottom line is we both want Memphis to win.

All of that is fine and very helpful in my opinion, the difference was that Cal had HC experience. Knowing how to deal or at least experienced in dealing with players at this level. Sure wish Penny had taken an assistant role like he was offered a few times at Memphis.
He can still pull this out, it's not good now - yet it is all fixable.

the situation we are in now has ZERO to do with "We play in an NBA arena" has nothing to do with We have a staff full of NBA guys, I t has very little to do with our trying to run an NBA system with highly guys who desire to play in the NBA.
the Problem is. NOT , we are a college program and it’s square peg, round hole.
the problem is Penny has not done a good job of managing expectations and the roster ... I believe he will turn it around, we had all better hope he turns it around.
