Boise. Nice town Nice Stadium. Long Trip
Been there many times, weather ?? Could be warm , Could be miserable in Dec
Not the best landing spot for Kent faithful.
Wyoming has played two MAC teams this season. NIU and Ball St.
Beat them both .
If you are going many hotels walking distance to the Blue Field. [/align]

Just did a bunch of searches for flights to Boise from every airport within a couple hours from me. . Cheapest one was $980, had 2 stops and took 8.5 hrs. We’ll be passing on that opportunity.

Should’ve gone last season but it was a chance to make sure the bottom of the barrel 3 and 4 win SEC programs got exposure…03-banghead

Just in case you didn’t notice 13 SEC (of 14) teams made it this year.

But at least those 13 are all eligible, all are 6-6 or better. Last season they sent 3-7 and 4-7 teams, but rules were relaxed due to Covid-19.

I also looked and from major hubs nearby me and couldn’t get it under $1150.00, that’s ridiculous!

Always wondered this, but how does the MAC (Middle-America) get this bowl? The conference's schools don't travel well. Flying into Boise is expensive. At least when we went to Las Vegas it was affordable.

The COVID factor was in play last year, but keep in mind that the rules were changed a few years ago to even allow teams with only 5 wins in normal year. This year they didn't need to go below 6 wins.
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but it seems that the one Group of Five team to appear in the one slot obligated to a Group of Five team in a New Year's Six bowl is Cincinnati, even though they are in the playoffs. The two semi-final games are considered two of the New Year's six. Somehow it doesn't seem fair. The SEC always filled up the bowls. Years ago, when there were a lot fewer bowls, the SEC was one of the few, and maybe the only, conference to allow multiple teams to appear in bowls. The Big Ten only allowed the winner to go to the Rose Bowl, AND the same team couldn't go in consecutive years!

RE: Bowl Projections
No love from CBS that ranks us 41 out of 42 bowl games.
41. Potato Bowl: Kent State vs. Wyoming
Dec. 21, 3:30 p.m. -- Now here's a matchup that is an interesting conflict of styles. Kent State wants to do everything quickly. A play has barely ended before the Golden Flashes are lining up to run another one, which is part of the reason the Flashes have run 974 plays this season. Only three teams have run more. Then there's Wyoming. The Cowboys are on the opposite end of the spectrum and approach snapping the ball like a moody teenager does that full garbage can.

It's not until the referee asks them to snap the ball for the third time that they finally groan and do it, which is why the Cowboys rank 111th nationally with 776 plays. Yep, that's right" Kent State ran 198 more plays than the Cowboys this season, which is a wide disparity even if Kent State played an extra game (the MAC Championship Game).

Not surprising that Kent State gets no love. Wyoming, though, has a pretty good football history. That history will be forever tarnished, though, by the despicable 1969 "Black 14" incident.

That incident took Wyoming from a national power to a wannabe. A couple of seasons ago UW brought all the surviving members of the 14 back to Laramie for an official apology and recognition at a home game. They also mounted a memorial plaque on the stadium in honor of the Black 14. Link to apology:http://www.uwyo.edu/diversity/black-14/apology.html

Right. I remember Wyoming being considered a power. They were even in the Sugar Bowl a year or so before that. I remember the incident better than most because I knew the brother of one of the players. Thank God, we've come a long way from when such a thing could happen.

Supply and demand. Boise is probably lucky anybody flies there from the eastern part of the country. I imagine Christmas is helping to cause the high prices around 12/20. I flew an awfully lot and sometimes I could get to Zurich cheaper than I could get to Hartford Connecticut. When you figure out the formula let me know.
