NIL to be a great equalizer for ACC
First off this doesn't guarantee success for any school with loads of corporations in their backyard especially city schools that are perceived as "little brother." Also I tend to agree with JRSEC when it comes to pay to play; however, I tend to think it'll end up with 50-60 schools as opposed to 48.
NIL really benefits Miami, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Louisville and Pitt. Realistically all a company like Alcoa has to do is pay X amount of money to Jordan Addison to post a picture on Instagram and Twitter of him wearing a Alcoa shirt X times a week/month, or posting a video of him eating a hot dog with Heinz Ketchup on it for Heinz. Pittsburgh alone has dozens of Fortune 500 companies that work on a global scale. Naturally not every corporation will work with Pitt per say, but not every one has to for Pitt to be successful.
I tend to think that because of NIL, it will also increase the amount of money boosters donate to such programs. If you're going to invest corporate money for players, then you're going to want the best coaching staffs possible and provide the tools for recruiting such players.
Perhaps I'm completely wrong here and it doesn't change anything. Who knows. What I do know is that many of these corporations, especially techies, already have working relationships with local colleges via research. So it only makes sense for athletes to be the bridge between such corporations and universities as spokespersons on commercials and such.

I’m sure advertising works or else it wouldn’t be a thing companies pump trillions of dollars into annually. However, I struggle with the idea that a superstar wide receiver wearing a shirt promoting pineapple juice is going to increase sales. Maybe I’m wrong and I don’t understand the “power and influence” of celebrities. I’ve never considered what Tom Brady eats on a billboard as a guide to my grocery purchases.

IMO, NIL will be bigger for elite basketball players and one-off media-savvy athletes. Schools like Duke or Syracuse should be at the cutting-edge of NIL.
Football players are hidden under helmets; they’re frequently in huddles or in piles where it’s harder to differentiate individuals. Football coaches can be control freaks that don’t allow their players to speak publicly or highlight their individualism.

Considering that Image and Likeness are two thirds of NIL, I tend to agree. I doubt if you could have found ten non-Duke fans who could have picked Daniel Jones out of a lineup, but millions would have recognized Zion Williamson in a second.

For a lot of these football factories, NIL is just an excuse to give money directly to recruits. There's no requirement that the "endorsement" is profitable. Look at how much money was given to the new Alabama QB before he even set foot on campus. In the old days they would've called that a recruiting violation (except it's not a violation any more because it isn't against the rules).
Those who think NIL will level the playing field are not considering this aspect. The school with the biggest alumni base probably still wins.
