It is, but it's much to early to have much meaning.
For instance the Sagarins and Polls have Purdue #1
RPI has Purdue #13
Sagarin really doesn't matter for basketball.
NET is the big one for NCAA tourney, RPI is still looked at some, but was officially replaced with NET.
RPI had us around 135-140 range before this win, and has started to settle in some. I'm sure we will get a boost in other metrics also as long as we keep winning.
I think we have a real good shot at NIT, and an outside chance at NCAA if we don't lose many more games.
By RPI and NET, Murray State is doing a good job so far making that loss not look so bad at #33 RPI and #63 NET. JMU is at #151 NET currently, we need ODU, GMU, UVA, etc. to step it up from here on out and make our wins look better along with Kent State making our other loss look better.
NIT seems like a solid but obtainable goal. I don't think NCAA at large is impossible yet, but the kind of 23 D1-game stretch it'd take post-Naples is pretty unrealistic to actually hope for. Let's win the CAA regular season, hope to get in the NIT, and keep building on a great year with a team that's only losing one guy this year if no one transfers out.

We could have some stumbles along the way and still have a shot at the NIT. NCAA is a different matter. We would probably need to run the table to get an NCAA bid. Perhaps 1 loss, but 2 might be pushing it.
The rest of OOC is very winnable. We might need to blow them out to make a statement. Are there still bracket buster games? If so, we could have another chance at a good win against a similar team.
I think the best part is that this team can play better. At least Coach By believes they can. The UVA win will definitely boost their confidence and hopefully keep them working hard.
Right now, I'm just concerned with playing solid and coming away with a win against Radford. Big wins like the one yesterday have a tendency to produce a letdown in the subsequent game. It is not a problem we're accustomed to, so it's nice to be in this position.

Agreed. This is starting to remind me of the delusions of grandeur post-VT win in 2010...which ended with us losing 5 of the next 7 games.
This JMU team can ball, but every single D1 win has been close and we still lost by double digits to Murray State. There is definitely room for improvement and I still anticipate a few frustrating losses.
That record would be fantastic! Who could argue about a 26-3 regular season? Would it be enough for an at-large bid to the NCAAT? Maybe. JMU would surely be a lock for the NIT.
Let’s hold our horses as far as where we are at as a team and going 26-3. Just so everyone is aware we lost to Kent state a team that Towson just beat on the road by 15. I love our team but until we can blow some teams out and show more consistency shooting the rock I think we will lose some games we should not.

Projections are just educated guesses by "the computer" of course, but it doesn't seem impossible if we execute well. Watched the replay, and this team still has lots of room to improve, but they are getting better each week and home court is now a big advantage.
The computer also likes Towson by the way, predicts they go 21-10 and beat us at their home, with us beating them at the bank.

This thread is a few days old, and I have not read through it. I have to say things that go without saying, prob already been said. AUBC is beautiful. (Traffic getting out of parking garage was a nightmare, but everyone was so pumped it didn’t matter). I think I got teary eyed when the clock hit zeros because I could not actually believe it. We have been so disappointing for so long. Could it really be that we won this game? I was in Blacksburg for 21-16, got to watch it with my oldest. I got to watch this one with my youngest at AUBC. It’s a wonderful life! And I got to see Deez and Mrs Deez after. College athletes and teams will break your heart, not expecting us to run the table, but if they keep up the defensive intensity and fight and play with heart they will won a bunch more. I’ve said all season I love this team, but I didn’t expect this.

I was in Blacksburg for 21-16 as well. How did this compare for you?
I didn't think we had a chance against VT. Against UVA I thought we could stick with them but as they were on their run in the second half I thought we wouldn't be able to hold on.
I felt elation in both games, but VT felt more like disbelief than anything. This one felt different. After being such a bad team all these years, this felt like a metaphorical turning of the page. We have a very, very good basketball team. I liked the team last year, but this one is special. I think we'll be looking back at this year as the one that really started the new era of JMU basketball in the way 2004 did for football.
I know we won't have Coach By forever, but I really hope he stays a few more years as I think he's a terrific coach and person.

Foot traffic from the arena to the parking garage was an absolute nightmare so I could only imagine what it was like with cars waiting for someone kind enough to let you back up out of your space to then get in that long line to get out of the garage. Other than going to the game the easily best decision I made was reading the pregame comments here about parking and deciding to park across the street in the spillover lot up from Costco. A short walk and I was out of there immediately, then a quick traffic free drive down to Port Republic Rd. and on to I81 very quickly.
