We have been so disappointing for so long. Could it really be that we won this game? I was in Blacksburg for 21-16, got to watch it with my oldest. I got to watch this one with my youngest at AUBC. It’s a wonderful life! And I got to see Deez and Mrs Deez after. College athletes and teams will break your heart, not expecting us to run the table, but if they keep up the defensive intensity and fight and play with heart they will won a bunch more. I’ve said all season I love this team, but I didn’t expect this.

I was in Blacksburg for 21-16 as well. How did this compare for you?
I didn't think we had a chance against VT. Against UVA I thought we could stick with them but as they were on their run in the second half I thought we wouldn't be able to hold on.
I felt elation in both games, but VT felt more like disbelief than anything. This one felt different. After being such a bad team all these years, this felt like a metaphorical turning of the page. We have a very, very good basketball team. I liked the team last year, but this one is special. I think we'll be looking back at this year as the one that really started the new era of JMU basketball in the way 2004 did for football.
I know we won't have Coach By forever, but I really hope he stays a few more years as I think he's a terrific coach and person.

You know, the UVA game was home/new arena and is different for those reasons. VT was a bigger upset going by the line on the game, but this may be just as or even more important from the aspect of rebuilding a program, getting fans back, and softening the blow of no CAA tourn. But in both games I was hopping to keep it close and have a chance to win. I suppose I was more euphoric for VT, but this was special. I don’t think we have talked about the SBC move in regard to Coach By’s salary, but we all know if he keeps this up he’s an even hotter commodity. It is obvious the players love to play together; it appears there is unity. If you go to jmu mbb twitter and watch the little videos and day in the life type stuff it is obvious. Great culture being built in that program…

Absolutely. I love the culture Coach By is building in the program. I feel like I know this team better than any of the teams I have watched.. even in the 90s.
I agree that this win may have been more important for the building of the program. It was done on our home court in front of a sell out crowd.
This has definitely given our fans something to feel proud about. That isn't anything we have felt since they went to the NCAAs in the Brady era. And even then I didn't feel like we had much of a chance to make it far.
I do think this win was a bit more important than the VT one, but that's not to negate how incredible that win truly was. I will never forget that day.

With that being said, I have become a huge UVA fan for the rest of this year. They need to beat Duke, UNC, and other strong ACC teams to validate the strength of JMU’s win over the Wahoos.

Ms Dukester was talking to another Mother who had a daughter at JMU. She said storming the court was the "best time of her life".

That should keep them coming back, and if they keep coming back that are more likely to contribute to the Duke Club when they leave.

BTW - what kid stole the Crown from Duke Dog? I figured away from VMI Duke Dog would be safe.

Foot traffic from the arena to the parking garage was an absolute nightmare so I could only imagine what it was like with cars waiting for someone kind enough to let you back up out of your space to then get in that long line to get out of the garage. Other than going to the game the easily best decision I made was reading the pregame comments here about parking and deciding to park across the street in the spillover lot up from Costco. A short walk and I was out of there immediately, then a quick traffic free drive down to Port Republic Rd. and on to I81 very quickly.03-idea
Also a huge nightmare, we waited a good 20 minutes or more before there was any kind if movement.

I think there was a little wreck or something, we sat forever and then once things started clearing out some people started backing up and turning around instead of going around the way we were supposed to, then a cop came walking down from where it was jammed up as we were leaving.

I rolled down the windows and blasted "All I Do Is Win" at one point though to lots of cheers and beeps 02-13-banana

RE: UVA game - Tuesday 12/7 - 6:30pm
Not sure it was the best option, but we parked down in the convo lot. There was a little delay getting out, maybe 5-10 minutes for us, but seemed tolerable. Of course, if you get accustomed to seeing DC/NoVa traffic jams, even 20 minutes isn't horrible.

When I used to attend WFT/skins games, one perk of the club level was the 5th quarter party. We used to hang out there for an extra hour or so for traffic to clear. Not sure if there's anything comparable JMU could do in club level, but keeping it open a bit longer for things to clear could be nice. Personally, I'd rather hang out and chat a little while over rushing out and fighting traffic.

This type of thing really happens with any large scale event, but its a good problem to have 04-cheers

Also, a couple shirts from BreakingT. Same company that makes the Odicci Alexander shirts and MadiSUN shirts. Definitely gonna have to order a few of the "81 south, 64 east" shirts, one for myself and a couple gifts.

Just watched the replay hburg posted. The under the radar plays of the game may have been the ridiculously great box outs by Strickland and Molson with just under a minute to go. Strickland fell down in the lane, got up and ran over to their big guy who was all alone and absolutely immobilized him despite a 10 inch height disparity. Molson had their 245 pound power forward pinned to the point he couldn't even get after a rebound that came almost directly to him.

Freakin' beautiful! I don't think we missed a box out all game. We gave up some boards, but not because of poor positioning.

Isn't it amazing what good coaching can do for a program??
This team just continues to get better. I can't wait to see how good they will be by the end of the season.

You my friend are delusuinal if you think.this UVA team will beat Duke or UNC. Its easily the worst of Bennett's tenure since his 1st year. Uva will not make the tourney. Great win for JMU but honestly not that HUGE of a win as many maje it out to be but thats how low the standards have fallen. Have to start somewhere I suppose

Okay. So, not a “HUGE” win. 03-phew

I guess “starting” with a first-ever home win over a respected P5 basketball power and recent National Champ on national television in front of a sold-out, record setting, passionate crowd in a new arena is now JMU’s “low” standard. Give me some more of that juice! 03-nutkick

And those 4000 students all have friends that go to UVa - big part of what makes this fun (and a big part of the vision behind SBC-east)

Can you even hear yourself talk?? Past champion, respected power yes with a caveat, NOT THIS YEAR! Not really sure what a sell out has to do with beating a down UVA team. If the Dukes can go 24-8 26-6 that is much more significant than winning a SELLOUT game lol. Keep drinking your kool aid

I’m not sure what team you’re shilling for, but it’s very obvious that you’re not a real JMU fan, or familiar with JMU’s basketball history.
