Stephen Igoe ECU's main reporter said "The Virginia Tech stuff at this point is more just rumor and speculation. There doesn't seem to be much there right now. I don’t think Stoops gets enough credit for winning at Kentucky. To me, that’s the tallest of tasks. That would be who I would be calling, if I was LSU.

Kliff Kingsbury feels like a smokescreen. I doubt he leaves Arizona and Kyler Murray for OU.

Sonny Dykes is probably the rushed play they are making. I bet he’s already signed some kind of TCU paperwork that will require a buyout.

Bob Stoops is a safe play. I don’t know if recruits would want to commit to someone that might not be there long term.

Mark Stoops is ready for the OU job. Really elevated Kentucky but he’s not the splashy hire.

Josh Huepel is probably your last resort. He’s and alum but has a complicated history with the program. It would be weird for him to come back as the savior after being run out of town not that long ago.

When I heard about Texas and OU leaving the Big 12 for the SEC I thought it was a mistake. I understand they will make a ton of money but they had a far easier path to the playoff in the Big 12. I have no doubt that the move played a part in Riley's decision. OU would probably have at least 4 losses this season if they were playing in the SEC. If Riley can get a defense (which right now is a big if) at USC, he can dominate a weak P12. He also should have his pick of any of the top west coast players.

I agree with you on feeling like them two are making a mistake. It's no secret they going after that SEC money and the schools might be complacent with the money that's going to be rolling in, but what about the booster and donors? They want to be #1 and win nattys.

Will they take it lightly when they become middle of the pack while getting trounced by Bama? Or LSU or Auburn? I think not, especially those at Texas.

But what do I know.

With its pleasant weather and big city amenities, LA is attractive to rich people able to afford gated communities, drivers, and security detail.
