RE: MT to Bahamas vs Toledo
Whenever you feel disrespected, think about Toledo...

Their last bowl game was 2018, the Bahamas Bowl. They have been Bowl eligible every year since, but not selected for a bowl (6-6 in '19, 4-2 in the shortened '20). Now in '21, they are eligible for a bowl again and get shipped back to the Bahamas Bowl...

So their 4-year senior class has been Bowl eligible 4 consecutive years, and all they have to show for it is 2 Bahamas Bowls and 2 non-selected stay-at-homes.

Bahamas, Mobile or Montgomery Alabama...

if I was a player I know which I would choose if given that choice. While it might suck for fans, players (at least Western's) loved the Bahamas

I'm not even sure it sucks for fans, the few that care enough to go watch us lay another egg in a bowl game will mostly travel regardless.

FWIW my experience in Mobile in 2010 was better than my experience in NOLA in 2009, the outcome of the game aside anyhow...

Most of the bowls in this conference are nothing special. A bowl is a bowl. Both teams will be fine

I personally have zero problems with going to a football game in Mobile. Not real cold and still some very good fishing and a short drive to the casino. But all three of those can be had in the Bahamas...

only a lot better

I couldn't go even if I wanted to as my passport expired in 2020 and just haven't felt the need to renew with no international travel plans on the horizon.

I agree with that, it's been 20 years but my experience with the Mobile Bowl remains one of my all-time fan favorite Bowl experiences. The town actually gave a darn and had a first class experience.

The Bahamas is the best bowl location for the players. It's a free vacation. One of the MT players from 2015 told me that he got to swim with dolphins and do amazing activities. Plus, they stay in a 5 star resort on the beach. Not much disrespect there.

I don't think rewarding the players is much of a consideration from the selection process, but it's a great silver lining that of all the forgettable mediocre G5 vs mediocre G5 bowl trips, that it is such a great reward to the players.

Doesn't change the fact that most fans want to see their program play in a more recognizable bowl, in a better time slot, against a better opponent.

I agree! I doubt Toledo is too excited about having to play a crappy 6-6 team.

Glad MT landed a bowl. I really thought they might get left out this year.

Here is what is going to happen.

We are going to get outgunned in true Stockstill fashion. We aren't going to win because we achieved our goal.

Bowl eligibility. Mission Accomplished. We did it. .500

Winning a bowl game is not a goal.

Agree on that also ...
Mobile does the bowl atmosphere (Mardi Gras parade) and the out of town visitors very well !!04-cheers

RE: MT to Bahamas vs Toledo
Been to see MT in Four Bowl games: Detroit, New Orleans, Mobile, and Dallas Ft. Worth. Even though we only won the New Orleans Bowl; I loved the experience. Even in the face of our numerous Bowl Losses (of which I've seen three) for an MT Fan and Alum; it is still a Big Deal and never gets Old. Of course winning bests the Hell out of Losing. So, sure would love to see us turn our winless record against the MAC (in Bowl Games) around by beating Toledo.

The Bahamas Bowl is tough to get to for fans but a blast if you can make it.

Good team with crappy coaching, discipline and luck. Boast the highest point margin in conference, and most made fg % against us in the nation.

Loss by to 3 to ND, 2 to NIU, 3 to CMU in OT, 3 to EMU with bad loss by 16 to CSU but they had 5 FGs and a punt return TD. Once the 2 QB system stopped (week 6) we started to catch fire offensively.

i think CMU and Toledo are the scariest teams with the highest ceilings come bowl season.

I agree with your last point and will add EMU and WMU as teams that should match up very well with just about any team they could be expected to play in a bowl game.
