My vote - Bahamas Bowl. Terrible venue.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. If the stadium was domed
then not so bad.

RE: Bahamas Bowl: Toledo vs. Middle Tennessee
Are these anything but filling time slots for networks? There's no considerations of "what's best for" is there?

For fans, detroit would be better. For players, this seems like a nice reward. For parents?

For the programs? There's nothing to gain from it. Maybe there's something to lose, particularly given the conference talk. Seems a bit too coincidental, very manipulative and insulting. I'd certainly take it that way but don't know who would be more likely to manipulate it? MAC Admin or Networks.

It would have been nice to see the team as is one last time. Is what it is. It will be interesting if any players choose not to go.

Glad to see our arch-non-rival going bowling. As to any bowl locale, of the 20,000-plus or whatever you get for a home game, what % do you think will travel to wherever and what % will stay home and watch on TV? We're talking pre-XMas/holidays here, the new Covid mutation possibly coming around (with ever-changing and varied local restrictions), various airlines having their problems, etc. Still not a pre-Covid, healthy economy situation like 2019. Anyway, congrats again, even if some think the glass is always half empty. Now, go kick some Blue Raider behind.

RE: Bahamas Bowl: Toledo vs. Middle Tennessee
1. Mobile- great town, great people, lots of activities and buzz vs. a good SBC team (only 4 bowl eligible).
2. Myrtle Beach- has to be nice right??? AAC opponent.
3. Boca- Beautiful, warm and stayable cheaper places close by just not in Boca itself. FAUs venue is great.
4. Frisco is Dallas right? Good recruiting opportunity with a solid AAC opponent.
5. Detroit- Just good for our fans and possibly a B1G head on a chopping block.
6. Arizona- Very far but has Barstool running it so will be heavily watched. Also a warm place, with a MWC opponent.
7. Ive heard Montgomery sucked as a week destination, but was at least driveable if you wanted to stay a night or two. Bad venue.
8. Bahamas- Subpar CUSA team out of the country. This would be higher but the team has already done it... outside of the casino and waterpark, its incredibly dangerous off the resort. Also the worst venue even behind Crampton Bowl or whatever its called.
9. Boise- The town and stadium have redeeming qualities but a hell no to the slight of our fans vs. a handful of MWC teams. USU damn near sold it out in 2012. Cold weather with no dome... Get out of this contract.

If Texas is good for recruiting then so is Detroit. Belleville alone has about 19 on the roster getting D1 looks and they're practically up the street A couple Dearborn area schools held them close, one even beat them. Their 14 year old QB threw five TD winning the state championship. Antonio Gates kid played for Dearborn Fordson (which produces line-men like a factory produces cans). Play in Detroit for this potential or just let it head to the directionals? Not a lot of recruits in the Bahamas.

That's just devil's advocating. I don't think a bowl in the neighborhood means that much to a kid looking for a place to play. Kids all have ESPN, they know all the mid-majors. Kids from Texas end up in D2 ball in Ohio, I think they know Toledo.

Bahamas is a nice trip for the players. My only really complaint if the convenient choice of opponents. As I wrote above, this was manipulated.

Too long! About 1300 mile drive from Toledo to Ft Lauderdale and then a 12 hour ferry ride to Paradise Island.

East 41 out of Miami, couple hours give or take. Take snacks for the wildlife.

That 12 hour ferry is for bringing a car with you. You can take a non-ferry boat that would be about 2.5 hours.

The non-ferry from Ft Lauderdale to Grand Bahamas I know of is only running on Thursdays plus getting over to Paradise Island is another short trip. Hate the Bahamas.
The stadium from what I understand was a gift from China, our buddies.

RE: Bahamas Bowl: Toledo vs. Middle Tennessee
I view bowls as opportunity for players and coaches as reward for a "successful" season, so the Bahamas seems like a nice destination to be vising in mid December. And for fans we are stuck with a bad TV time for many unable to watch on a Friday at noon. The number of bowls and scheduling is unfortunately more about TV money and corporate game sponsorship than affordable locations fans can get to

It’s faster if you take the tunnel.
