Covid infection risk increases gradually post-second Pfizer vaccine shot: Study
Quote:A new study has found a gradual increase in Covid-19 infection risk after the second vaccine dose, prompting a team of researchers to propose that a third vaccine dose be considered.

The BMJ journal published the study, which found a gradual increase in the risk of Covid-19 infection 90 days after receiving a second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

According to the researchers, who included Ariel Israel from Leumit Health Services in Tel Aviv, Israel, the findings confirm that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine provided excellent protection in the first few weeks after vaccination, but that protection may wane for some people over time.

The researchers examined the electronic health records of 80,057 adults (average age 44 years) who had a PCR test at least three weeks after their second injection and had no history of Covid-19 infection.

There were 7,973 (9.6%) positive test results among the 80,057 participants. These people were then paired with negative controls of the same age and ethnicity who were tested the same week.

The rate of positive results increased with the passage of time since the second dose. For example, across all age groups, 1.3% of participants tested positive 21-89 days after a second dose, but this increased to 2.4% after 90-119 days, 4.6% after 120-149 days, 10.3% after 150-179 days, and 15.5% after 180 days or more.

After controlling for other potentially influential factors, the researchers discovered a significantly increased risk of infection with time since the second dose.

The risk of infection was 2.37-fold higher after 90-119 days, 2.66-fold higher after 120-149 days, 2.82-fold higher after 150-179 days, and 2.82-fold higher after 180 days or more, compared to the initial 90 days after a second dose.

The researchers concluded that in individuals who received two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, protection appeared to wane over time, and the risk of recurrent infection increased progressively when compared to the protection provided during the first 90 days.

I was just getting ready to schedule my booster shot when the news broke about this new variant. I'm going to hold off until I know if they are updating the boosters or not. Of course it's always best to switch brands when getting a booster. Studies show mixing it up yields much higher resistance levels than sticking with the same type.

Booster away, Scorpius. Aren't you due for your 4th or 5th booster by now? Here's a clue for ya. It won't ever stop. At what point do you start to wonder what is the purpose of all these shots? We know that they don't stop you from getting or spreading the disease.

Some folks are just easily led.....

I'm done with the vax, if I die, I die. I'm 73 who cares. It's God's will anyway and no vax is gonna keep you alive if he wills you die.

Pfizer likely wouldn't have been approved under normal circumstances, yet that is the one being pushed instead of Moderna.

I've been saying all along it's going to wind up being an annual shot, like the flu shot.

You should be like some posters on here and beg the government to tell you how to keep you safe and protected by taking a drug they insist should be forced upon everyone.

Moderna has much lower effectiveness at the start and a lot more side effects.
Pfizer wears off quicker.

He probably wears a mask when he is sleeping too......

Only time I bring a mask with me is to a doc appointment. And last time I went to one I forgot the mask. 03-lmfao But turned out to be a positive. They were handing out nice breathable masks at the door. Now I don't fear flying as much since I have that one.

Also a few months back when I went to the pharmacy on base, I forgot the mask. Luckily there wasn't the usual Nazi at the door checking ID's and masks. Must have been a freak occurrence since that's the first time in 25 years there hasn't been one at the door. Well regardless, I got in without a mask. Only one without a mask on.

But I couldn't get my perscription and out of there fast enough since everyone was looking at me weird. It was as if I walked in there 2 years ago being the only one wearing a mask. It reminded me of the feeling you get when you go to a nude beach with a suit on. The stares and glares are similar to what you'd expect being too nude at a normal beach. 03-lmfao
