DePaul has 28 points in the paint first half. Ouch
Their center is at the high post and no threat to shoot outside so what does Mo do….tries to deny the ball and gets beat to the hole. Why Deny high post Mo?
McBride struggling trying to create his own shot
I love Golson getting to the rim but woah he has shot some bricks once he gets there.
Binelli guarding low post player out of bounds, his player sets diagonal high post screen and we watch the high post guard go in for a layup. I do expect better defense …..that’s a middle school out of bounds play.
Hopefully we can make it respectable because DePaul has a nice squad.
EMU played all wrong against DePaul. Agree EMU’s bigs should have guarded the rim, not the high-post. As high-post jump-shot is a low-percentage shot. Spottsville should have guarded the high-post.
EMU’s PG has to pick-up DePaul’s PG Freeman-Liberty as he came across half-court and made him pass ball and deny him getting the ball back or make him shoot off his dribble which is a low percentage shot. Have to play in his face, not two feet away. Luca should have guarded him as Spottsville’s got torched. Such would have also disrupted DePaul’s offense and forced opponent turnovers.
Luca has to be EMU’s PG until Noah returns. Luca has length on defense and if he doesn’t shoot three’s from deep HS’s an excellent 3-point shooter. He should shoot the three ball or long two’s more than driving to the hoop.
McBride’s 3-ball goes all over the place.
Don’t think McBride nor Spottsville can get to hoop when EmU plays a a low-post offense against good teams, Both players would be better off shooting jumpers.
New EMU offense calls for passes going into low-post to bigs who can’t finish at the rim. Today, passes inside resulted in needless EMU turnovers as our bigs don’t know how to position their bodies to receive pass, and others have bad hands and can’t catch the ball. the ball. Also, EMU’s low-post offense clutters the paint with opponent bigs that make it impossible for EMU’s perimeter players to get to the hoop.
Like to see Ballard play more as there’s no substitute for experience. Liked his three-ball.
Golson shot 2-7 on fga’s and had four turnovers. No wonder EMU opponents outscore EMU by a large margin when he plays. No way he should be shooting so often in such a short period especially since his fG percentage is so low Unless Golson is told not not to power nor drive to the hoop, he should be played sparingly or not at all. I’ve said that for sometime.
