We can go back to the glory days of 2019 where FOR A GAME TO CLINCH HOME FIELD IN THE AAC TITLE GAME we drew 36,000 and the next week, with the Cotton Bowl on the line, we drew 33,008.
Or in 2018, vs. a top 10 ranked UCF team on an ridiculous winning streak, 37k came out to play. Then that same year, the final two home games (vs. Tulsa and UH) drew the same number (27k) as this past Saturday's game.
...
I'm calling bull5hit on these stats. I recall very clearly EVERYBODY being pissed at the University for under-reporting attendance during that stretch. May theories abounded as to the purpose of such action, but the fact remains, we all knew those figures were bogus. Everybody here had a story of their tickets not being scanned, or someone in front of them not being scanned.
You an "call it" but if you went to those games, you would see it.
It was evident at the Cinci games how crappy the crowds were.
The UCF game...my group have free run of our area.
The UH game to clinch...pitiful attendance.
And I didn't even bring up the Tulane game from October 2017 when 17,589 were there because it was....COLD.
We definitely like to use attendance numbers to suit the narrative. Back then, we complained they were underreported because of scanners and lazy employees. Now we're comparing these "lower" numbers to inflated 100% accurate attendance for Ruin. Since you're a facts guy, here's a few you left out comparing apples/apples:
UCF Game - rained all day off & on and the entire 2H, having 37k there in those "conditions" for our fanbase is pretty admirable. We blew the game due to fumbles/weather, hey look even Norvell blew a big lead!
Houston - that was an AM kick the morning after Thanksgiving, not really comparable to the narrative you're trying to create
Cinci - the last regular season game was way more than half full, I think that number was underreported from seeing the crowd in person. I will give you credit on the AAC Title game, it was disheartening to see a thinner crowd for that one. However, people had to go the extra mile to get tickets and you were displaced from your regular seats.
Fuente/SMU Game - in the 1Q of that game ESPN broke the news of him accepting the VT job. I would say a portion of the fanbase wasn't going the extra mile to run to that game with how horrid SMU was and watch us have a 56 point lead at halftime. Even reporting 30k with all of those factors compared to < 30k with Ruin in his finale is pretty embarrassing for the current coach, based on one departing and an early morning kickoff having a larger attendance number (that remember, we always underreported).
Okey dokey...you've got a bag of excuses for every one of these games.
Memphis crowds are 100% dependent on two things:
1) weather
2) whether the team has a winning record
And weather is the main driver.
And November crowds are consistently worse than September crowds REGARDLESS of success.
Not excuses, just bringing facts into the discussion rather than speculation and fake news from you.

& don’t let the Tigers have a home game at 11AM on the opening day of Deer Season in TN & MS……..you will have your whole row to yourself to spread out……
I will agree, butts in seats for as long as I can remember gradually decline come November, with some rare game exceptions here and there.

Yeah, Memphians are all about how we get all kinds of weather, that we're not just hot, humid and muggy. But nobody seems to want to own our cold weather. Put on a coat and some ski bibs, people.

people in memphis do not typically have those things. a simple coat or hoodie sure. but not many people have down jackets and lined pants. some of us do, but not the masses

I said at the time that the silent majority got pissed at the stickers...however the university allowed it and then added the unity sticker. If the school continues to get more and more woke---they will continue to lose fans --in all sports--in all programs
Attendance is down across AMERICA in all sports ---and until sports gets out of politics --it will continue.

Maybe they don't like:
The loud arse noise they blare constantly during the game?
The drunks at the game and how the stadium personnel handle them?
The pain in the arse it is to park and walk to the game even with a parking pass?
I know this is keeping me and many others from attending the games in person.
None of these pertain to the coach.
Absolutely people do not go to games because of the coach. If fans are unhappy with the direction of the program, the only way to show their displeasure is by not buying tickets and vesting their own money in the program. We saw that exact scenario play out with both Pastner & Tubby - I believe the current trajectory we're on with Ruin, it will play out exactly the same, you can already see it this year. It will only worsen next year if he cannot get out of his own way with horrible in game decision making that added up quickly in the L column for us.
As far as the other list you provided, those are personal preferences of your own, maybe due to your age? I'm not using that in an insulting manner by any means, but loud music, drunk fans, parking issues, etc. are all hurdles every college fanbase navigates every weekend. Usually, at some point in life, everyone gets tired of dealing with those issues and chooses an alternative method to view the game.
I do believe Ruin not promoting the program, selling his vision for the program and engaging with the fanbase has drastically hindered the ability to get the casual fan to come to the Liberty Bowl like they did with Norvell. The energy is not there any more compared to how it was with Norvell, Ruin is a dud and we will slowly slip into mediocrity, unfortunately, with his Matt Luke similarities.
Are you a grown man having to do phony nicknames to try to make a point?
Good lord.
Yes saduki.
C'mon is Salsucki.
